Green Lantern A "Troubled Production" And "Terrible" Movie?

While talking about Blake Lively's career, a Hollywood agent has claimed that the movie is supposed to be terrible, while Vulture mention that its been a troubled production so far...

An article over at Vulture (a source known to be fairly reliable) have posted a story on Blake Lively and her career, and I couldnt help but spot what both a Hollywood manager and agent had to say when asked about her role in Warner Bros' Green Lantern as well as an interesting bit of info mentioned by the site themselves.

And both are also quick to say that should the forthcoming Green Lantern flop (and it's been a troubled production), it won't hurt Lively much. Says the manager, "Whatever the mistakes were with Green Lantern, she needs to not react to them and do an indie movie just because a big superhero movie didn't work. It's always about the role and the director. The hotter the person, the easier it is, and she's very hot right now." The agent adds, "Even though Green Lantern is supposed to be terrible, it doesn’t mean it’s not going to do extremely well and enhance her foreign value. Clash of the Titans was horrendous, but it didn’t slow down Sam Worthington any."

While I don't think it's worth reading too much into this, I still think it's interesting to note what the insider has to say about it being a "terrible" movie. Despite some fans not being too happy with the CGI on display in the trailer, the reaction seems to have been a positive one for the most part, making me wonder what caused them to make such a claim. Add in Vulture's mention of it being a troubled production, and Green Lantern might not be the hit everyone is expecting! Be sure to share your thoughts on this in the usual place!

Green Lantern is set to be released in 3D on June 17, later this year!

ha, did you hear the one line she "acted" in the trailer?
i hope it doesn't happen, but if anything she's the worst part in the movie

The only trouble with production that I am aware of that was documented was with the Mattel toy line that came with the ring. Apparently there were so many orders that they couldn't keep up with production.

Has this person seen the final cut of the film and everything in it? I found this very strange, on a very peculiar level.
"Whatever the mistakes were with Green Lantern, she needs to not react to them and do an indie movie just because a big superhero movie didn't work. It's always about the role and the director. The hotter the person, the easier it is, and she's very hot right now." - I'd agree on the last bit but the "mistakes" part I dont get. How could the manager see the end product, or even seen the postpro? No one has seen the post-production except a very certain few, which I bet is not exactly these agents? And they have especially not seen the end result.

The agent adds, "Even though Green Lantern is supposed to be terrible, it doesn’t mean it’s not going to do extremely well and enhance her foreign value. Clash of the Titans was horrendous, but it didn’t slow down Sam Worthington any." - I find this comment even more strange. Whatever this article means it will probably get a response. My guess is that this is regular pr bs.
I call really smelly cheese on this one.

And I totally agree with your comment JoshW!

I call bs. She's a terrible actress. I'll reserve judgment until I see the film.

Oh of cource! Spend millions of dollars, and waste one of the most popular actors in the world on a film thats meant to suck. LOGIC!

I don't believe this for one second. I think GL will be this year's "Iron Man" and surprise people.

This doesn't surprise me at all. The dialogue and acting in this trailer was possibly the worst I've ever seen. Green Lantern is my favorite superhero, but while Ryan Reynolds looks the part I've seen many of his films and didn't think his acting was anything special. I'll wait to see the Rotten Tomato before I go and pay to see this, which sucks, but movies aren't cheap and this just looked terrible to me.

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything but in no way is RR one of the most sought after actors.

This movie could be another G.I. Joe. It could be even worse if Ryan Reynolds does what he did in Blade Trinity, trying to end every decent line with some dumbass joke.

And for the record, just because we saw Reynolds say two witty lines in the trailer, doesn't mean he's doing a comedic performance! All comic book films have funny, tounge-in-cheak lines in them. Can you imagine if the first trailer for X-Men was just filled with Wolverine's one liners? It's just like that. Reynolds will be great.

@ halik
When I say Reynolds is a sort after actor, I'm reffering to the fact that he is one of the most popular stars in the world at the moment. I'm not saying this is an actor EVERYONE wants to cast, but if you look at his past 2 or 3 years of work, he's done heaps. Perhaps it was a wrong choice of words, but he's still really popular. If he wasn't, we'd have a Deadpool movie by now.

I HATE when fans ignore what is blindly in front of them! I understand were all fans of comics but is no one here a fan of FILM? Just because it's a superhero movie does not mean it is a good movie. In fact most comic book movies are terrible, considering how many are made now. You need to look at movies as a whole not just oh they got two things right. GL trailer had HORRIBLE dialogue and bad acting. I do believe that Sinestro will be excellent but is that really enough to carry the whole movie?

Why can't we all just get along?

Iron Man 2 was awesome...no disappoints. >:( meanie

If Green Lantern isn't what everybody wants, then it isn't. The movie is what it is, and they tried. Remember, 'terrible' and 'bad' are opinions...they don't carry the same weight and meaning from one person to the other.

One person's "terrible movie (i.e. Grif: 'man vs shit video')" might be another person's "awesomeness".

I'm not convinced. A lot of people I've shown the trailer to (non comic book readers by the way) have actually said it looks great, and preffered it to the Thor trailer. While I disagree with that, I think it looks good so far, and doubt it'll have any problems attracting a big audience in June.

Ok People....How Do You Know If It Is Gonna Suck When There Isn't Even A Second Trailer Yet! I Mean Honestly Your Basically Making A Statement On Nothing But The First Trailer The Came Out A Month Or 2 after it entered pre-production.
