Hal Jordan may be bigger piece of the DC Universe than we think. Much is surrounding the character such as with the long anticipated long awaited live action movie. Jordan is actually a founding member of the Justice League in the old DC Comics. Jordan is very relatable being chosen by the ring to become The Green Lantern and that is where it hits us all. Many of us are chosen but not everyone accepts the responsibility as Jordan has.

Think about the many trials and tribulations Jordan has gone through, the ups and downs. Green Lantern even has something over DC and all of comics two biggest Superheroes Batman and Superman and that is that Jordan has gone to the dark side in “Emerald Twilight” becoming the supervillian Parallax. He even died in trying to save the Earth after attempting to return to his heroic roots and later returned as a spirit of redemption in the persona of the Spectre in 1996’s cross over story “The Final Night.” Now I am not saying Superman has not returned from the dead and not walked that line of evil, I mean hey The Man of Steel was even manipulated by Darkseid, need I say more? Batman at times have been tempted but has kept himself together but that brings us back to Hal Jordan.

If you think about it much of reality that we live in now, Jordan is being looked at as the character/superhero that will take DC on his back and help launch much successful such as with his live action movie due out in about two weeks. With one more Batman film coming from the current Batman franchise even though Warner Bros. has announced a reboot, we still must focus on the current. As for Superman we have the Man of Steel and then must see where his next franchise will go, Green Lantern is looking as the go to character. Batman and Superman have been established in theatres and now it is Green Lantern’s turn and from all appearances, GL can get the job done. He is in good company with The Dark Knight Rises to follow next year as well as TDKR possibly being 2012’s most anticipated CBM movie.

The Man of Steel is to follow TDKR in December of 2012 and that can lead to many possibilities for Green Lantern and other DC superhero movies. Green Lantern 2 is looking at to be a strong next in line move at some point especially if Green Lantern does well, which I truly believe it will as well as the Flash script being submitted to Warner Bros. this past December. It is known that in the comics that Hal Jordan and Barry Allen were best friends and that could possibly set up a cameo in one another or both films. It could also mean hint toward a Justice League movie that Warner Bros. still has in the plans. Reportedly Warner Bros. is also developing a Hawkman movie which is said to be a mixture of Indian Jones adventure, Da Vince Code mystery, and Ghost type suspense “I’m thinking a showdown with the Shadow Thief” similar to the way Shadow Their was designed in the Justice League episodes “Shadow of the Hawk” and “Ancient History.”

Also Warner Bros. has announced an Aquaman movie due out on 2015 or 2016 with Leo DiCaprio’s Appian Way is developing the property. Then there is Wonder Woman. As well all may be aware by now the Wonder Woman TV pilot was passed on by NBC and I must say that I am actually in relief that is was because as much as Wonder Woman is one of my favorite comic book characters and my favorite along with Black Canary, our favorite Amazon needs her own movie. NBC passed on the pilot but that can be a blessing in disguise. The WB needs to realize times are different and as much as I love as well as admire Linda Carter’s Wonder Woman, it is time for something new. Wonder Woman should look in the similar design 300 & Clash of the Titans style. A Wonder Woman movie with the story line of her 2009 animated movie would be epic and a box office hit, give it some thought and do it Warner Bros. For now however all eyes fall on “The Emerald Crusader” Green Lantern.

I do believe DC Comics will have its biggest box office success since The Dark Knight. Green Lantern has been promoted well, the effects continue to look more amazing each day, the film looks to have a pretty good storyline, merchandise is doing well and most of Green Lantern is one of the most beloved Superhero Comic Book characters of all time. DC Comics has actually had success with some of their smaller characters such as Vertigo’s V for Vendetta, Constantine and Wildstorm’s Red. Now it is time for the success of their bigger characters and Green Lantern can be the one to help take us long time and even short time CMB movie fans to the heights we wanted to go & even possibly to The Justice League movie that I myself truly believe we will see one day. For now my sights are on Green Lantern & I look so forward to the adventure!

Hopefully Hal's movie can help usher in a new era of BETTER and MORE movies from DC. I'd love to see a badass Martian Manhunter film...him battling the white martians would be epic win!!!

But yeah, DC need to really nail a good Superman film. I hate that it looks like Hal will get an epic modern film, whereas with Superman they had to re-reboot him just to hopefully and barely get him right in 2012.

If anyone was questioning Green Lantern's importance in the DC Universe, then they don't know much about DC.

@CDB- True. Hal Jordan is pertinent to the DC Mythology. He represents everything that sets DC apart from other comic book companies...his ability to use his imagination + will-power= constructs match perfectly with DC's imagination.

Hal will do well.

I'm a huge collector of GL comics and it's crazy trying to describe to some people that The Corps look after every inch (almost) of the universe! Most characters are based solely on Earth or a given area. Hal and The Green Lantern Corps have saved the entire universe on countless occasions. He's as, if not more, important to the DCU than any other intergalactic hero
