In a recent interview with MTV at this years CinemaCon, Ryan 'Hal Jordan' Reynolds talks about Jordan's quick transformation into the first human Green Lantern.

"When we meet Hal Jordan, he's a cocky, sarcastic, arrogant type of guy and he's given this extraordinary gift. Rather than [have] that amplify those character traits, he's in fact humbled by it and given purpose in his life, which is what he lacked."

"We're into it [early]. It's an accelerated process. You don't really want the movie to start in the third act."

On Sinestro's potentially villainous role in the future..

"You definitely feel it. But he's an ally in this film. I would say it's contentious. Humans are looked down upon by a lot of the Green Lanterns — they're kind of a sub-species."

Green Lantern stars Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong and Geoffry Rush and soars into theaters June 17th, later this year!

I've never gotten why most of the Green Lanterns knew who humans were and looked down upon them before Hal was even a Green Lantern. I mean there are billions (if not more) of species in the DC universe, and they all know an insignificant species on a random planet in a random galaxy in a random sector. It's not like there aren't other species that are portrayed, in the comics, more violently, more savagely, more selfishly, and more primitively.

It might be time to form a shady organization whose purpose is to preserve the human species ahead of all others in the universe. To find a way to create immortality and bestow upon its fellow man. All spearheaded by one, and one man alone. Vandal Savage....

Hey guys 1st post, new to the site.

@golden123
You can kinda assume that hate for humans have been maybe manufactured by the guardians in a way, the guardians are some of the oldest beings in the DCU and have always used the fact that life started on maltus which is there homeworld. Blackest Night showed that the guardians lied about it because the life entity was buried deep in the earth which proves that life started on earth and not maltus, the guardians knew this and you can say they made earth seem insignificant in order to keep villains away from the life entity.

haha I was awake for about 2 minutes when i wrote that. IMO GLs look down on humans because they are pathetic. My example of people arguing over superheros just shows how pathetic we are.
