What I Would Like To See/Happen In The Green Lantern Franchise

Editorial Opinion

First of all, I would like share my opinion on the editorials that I have read about the Green Lantern movie; my opinion is that you guys are right, the movie had a lot of problems like not enough fight scenes, or not enough GL corps were seen in action, and some of the actors that were casted were not perfect for the role. So yeah I agree with some of them; but the point is all of us fans should give this franchise a chance, because lets face it,the movie deserves it, even if you guys won't agree with this, we all want what's best for Green Lantern and that's why you guys said those things about the movie. And the only way WB can make things right is to correct their mistakes in the first one. so here it goes

So here it goes. I think the movie suffered because of the script and also Martin Campbell was not right for being the director, so first opinion, we need a new director. The director should have an experience with sci-fi type of stuff, like James Cameron, Avatar was a good movie and it had a lot of CGI in it. So I think they should get him as the director (second opinion).

I also think that Carol Ferris should be re-casted because Blake Lively looks out of place in the movie, I guess if they're going to re-cast, I suggest Jessica Biel, because she looks beautiful (not that Blake Lively was ugly or anything) snd also she looks like she could have potential to be a villain (if ever they're going to include Star Sapphire in the franchise). And also i want more of the GL corps, the movie lacked this, I guess because they were focusing on Hal, what I want is the they should show at least the corps fighting along side Hal in some space battles against some intergalactic crime lord or something.

And since they have showed us what happened with Sinestro in the end of the first movie, I guess we should see him recruiting some of the GL corps for the Sinestro corps, and I would like to have an epic fight scene between the two corps and a one on one fight between Hal and Sinestro, I want them to talk like there would be no chance of Hal winning all the like in GL: First Flight fight scene. Or maybe this would help you guys see what I'm saying.

I hope you guys enjoyed that. That video right there gave me the inspiration to make this article. And also since WB and DC are already planning on making other DC comics character, I would also want them to show Easter eggs like what Marvel does with their movies, because it would help out a lot to develop a story line for other movies like JL. Marvel did them and look what happened to them, they had a lot of time to develop movies and now were getting The Avengers. So yeah that's about it for the movie, I hope you guys will give the franchise a chance.

WB should just save their money, and end this franchise now. just do a Wonder Woman movie instead.

I thought the first film wasn't that bad...it wasn't on the level of awful Ghostrider, Catwoman, Batman and Robin or Fantastic 4 were on but it wasn't on the high level as Nolan's Batman franchise, Spider-Man 1 or 2...I'd put it on the same level as Superman Returns or Spider-Man 3...

I really hope they do a sequel that deals with Sinestro Corps...that trailer you posted was awesome by the way.

There are so many haters on CBM its ridiculous. There's no reason WB shouldn't make another GL, and this trailer has the perfect idea for the tone. Needs to be darker, more serious, and more.....Mark Strong. :)

Every building needs a strong base.
A GL sequel would need a strong base as well.
The first film has nothing to build off.

@3D: And how does it feel you support the death of comic book/Superhero movies? :D

@Mechagino

You're not making any sense with your statement.

If you are trying to infer that my suggestion of a reboot...
Would support "death of comic book/Superhero movies"...
You are dead WRONG.

How would a reboot to an unsuccessful CBM [GL] be bad for the industry?

Oh, I see. You would rather see more sequels to something that audiences reacted EXTREMELY negative towards.

Brilliant...

You know, guys, maybe they could stretch the series out to not 3, but 4 movies(Geoff Johns even said in another article himself that he wanted Green Lantern to be more than a trilogy). The 2nd film (if there is one) would deal with Hal and Carol's relationship (to a MUCH smaller extent), as well as the Green lantern Corps being threatened by space pirate Kanjar Ro, while Sinestro secretly maintains his leadership over Korugar. For these movies, they could ask WETA Digital to use motion capture for the aliens (besides Sinestro, as well as Hal's suit.

Second film: I want Sinestro to start building his own corps, and then fight the GLC. I also want a hint at the Red Lantern Corps.

Third film: A war between SC, GLC, and RLC.

@3D: Oh really now? Did I say one film would cause the death of them? No, I said REBOOTS will. Think about it, if you keep on rebooting a film over and over again people will begin to lack interest. I'd much rather see Hollywood take responsibility and try and improve rather then start over from scratch over and OVER again. And rebooting a film SO RECENT is stupid, just look at the amazing Spider-man.

@3D, I disagree completely there are alot of redeeming qualities to Green Lantern. It needs a director with vision which is something Campbell lacked. Green Lantern can be redeemed and judging by what I've seen of the new Ghost Rider trailer it seems some took the time to understand the better character to fake it into a completely different direction. With that said I hope they don't get a GL sequel out until after I finish school so I can write the screenplay.

If WB/DC were to continue with the Green Lantern franchise, which isn't exactly my favorite idea, then WB/DC should do a loose sequel over a direct sequel or a reboot.

Ah... "sci-fi type stuff." It all makes perfect sense! Must... find... director... of... "sci-fi type stuff." lol

All joking aside, you are right... but Cameron? REALLY? While we're at it why not try getting Spielberg to direct Thor 2, Scorsese to direct Batman 4, Coppola to direct Captain America 2, and Friedkin to direct Constantine 2.

Let's be realistc for a moment. It would all be great but it's not going to happen.

Ok I liked this post... Let me start by saying im not realy a dc fan but I thought GL was a decent movie. It had its bad but overall its gd. The major prob with the movie was it didn't have enough action and it wasn't dark enough. WB spent 2 much on the movie 200 mil they didn't even spend that on TDK. It made about 250 mil for a non sup/bat film its great... no other non sup/bat film came even close. For a second film they need to keep/reuse CGI concepts to save on production cost. WB needs to see this vid to inspire them to make a new film. I say no to reboot. They wet the anticipation of fans with senestro they need to go all in. have more like a 150 min budget

I think the one thing people are missing here is the fact the movie was a decent/ good movie... it had more action then Thor and Thor was good... People who i had watch both movie and they knew nothing of the characters thought both movies were good and are actually looking forward to seeing the continuation of GL... The fact Amanda Waller was in the GL movie give hope that a Justice Loge with be put together ... And who knows they may even be aiming for Legion of Doom ... For an EPIC clash...

Tieray - If u put Gl side by side with Thor it actually had more action then Thor... There was just something about Thor that made be like it is not a problem and when it had Action it was on the Epic scale omitting the gay romp around a plastic tube... I believe that is why people though Thor had more action ... but in all honestly GL had more action throughout ... just not Epic action

I also liked the movie. It had flaws. Think they tried to cram too much in. Thought Blake Lively was good and Angela Bassett is a good choice for Waller. She didn't have much to do is this movie but I hope she's recast in any DC film that might have Waller. Mostly, I didn't like Reynolds in the lead. Recast him and continue on from where this left off. Origin is done, they can move on with an all out Green Lantern adventure.

@thegreek... I agree with u 2 some extent. In comparisoni liked thor more even thow its final action was subpar GL only had IMO the trainin which I thought was great. I dont see GL wit more action but mabee I need 2 look again. Like I said I enjoyed the movie even seen it twice but it had probs. But its worth trying again. it made more than any dc franchise outside of bat/sup theres a market! The prob with the franchis is buget vs revenue & for what its worth it made money just not what they were looking for. They wanted 500 mil but there is no other dc movie making more than bat/sup. It was destined to doom with those expectations. That was my major point

Doubt we'll see a sequel anytime soon...WB still licking their wounds over this one and DVD sales haven't helped that much...about $13 million so far.
But if they ever were to make a sequel expect a much smaller budget! That could actually be a better thing, concentrate on story/characters and not so much on some overcostly and overrated CGI(whoever did the CGI in GL ripped them off!) And hopefully a lot more Sinestro!
