Will 'John Stewart' Be Green Lantern In JUSTICE LEAGUE?

On this week's Meet The Movie Press, film reporter Jeff Sneider dropped a few interesting scoops. However, by far the most important of them was the identity of the DCCU Green Lantern- according to Sneider, WB/DC will be going with the John Stewart incarnation of the character as opposed to Hal Jordan. Jeff Sneider is one of the most well-known film journalists in the business, and has dropped numerous bits of news on many different CBMs. On this week's Meet The Movie Press, he's dropped yet another scoop, and it's a pretty major piece of news! According to Sneider, the DC Cinematic Universe Green Lantern is widely expected to be John Stewart, rather than Hal Jordan. This was widely expcted- given the failure of the 2011 Green Lantern film, it makes sense that DC would pick a different GL for their new Cinematic universe, to help distance themselves from that aborted franchise-starter. They should start out with an already existing older Hal Jordan (played by Nathan Fillion) whose bros with Batman, and John Stewart should be mentored by him.

Well this would be the easiest way for them to get some "diversity" that Marvel has been trying for the past couple of years. GL is a pretty high billing superhero compared to say, Black Panther, so it would be a smart move by DC to go with John Stewart.

Frankly, I would love to see Hal bickering with Batman on the big screen but I have a feeling it'll be John too.

I think Tyrese is ready for this role. People always underestimate his acting abilities and that they cannot take him seriously, but if his performance in Furious 7 is anything to go by, it is that it shows how much he's grown as an actor and how much emotional weight he's took on in relation to losing his brother. I know for a fact Tyrese can do the role of John Stewart rightly - he won't make it corny or gimmicky or anything like that - he'll do it right and he'll do it amazingly. He is ready to be the leading man in his own movie and that time will come in five years time.

I'm ready for John Stewart. I'm ready for Tyrese Gibson. I'm ready for the next Green Lantern.

I know what you mean but Jordan had his day in the sun with the 2011 movie. I guess WB's situation and mindset right now in relation to that movie and wanting more diversity means Stewart is a shoe-in.
