GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Concept Art Reveals How AQUAMAN's Jason Momoa Looked As Drax
Before Dave Bautista was cast as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, Jason Momoa was at the top of Marvel Studios' list and this artwork shows what the Aquaman star would have looked like as The Destroyer.
Way back when Marvel Studios was finding its cast for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa was named the frontrunner to take on the role of Drax.
At the time, it was reported that the actor wanted too much money and it was that which led Marvel to instead choose Dave Bautista to play the character. In 2014, Momoa said it was his decision to pass on Drax and it boiled down to him having played a very similar character in Stargate: Atlantis.
Whatever the reason may have been, things worked out well for Momoa because he would later be cast as Arthur Curry in the DC Extended Universe, and Aquaman will have earned over $1 billion at the worldwide box office by this weekend.
Now, Marvel Studios concept artist Charlie Wen has shared some concept art which shows what the Justice League star would have looked like as Drax. It's pretty different, right? Needless to say, it's hard to imagine anyone other than Bautista playing the hero at this point but one also has to wonder what might have been had things played out slightly differently...
