Despite its otherworldly story, setting and wide array of characters, Guardians of the Galaxy will be very different from the Star Wars franchise, insists Kevin Feige. In fact, when Empire asked him if the James Gunn-directed adaptation could be considered "Marvel's Star Wars," the Marvel Studios president declared, "We’re not making this to make Marvel’s Star Wars. We’re doing this to explore the other side of the existing Marvel Universe. The fact that Peter Quill is a human from our time, that he carries a personal cassette recorder with him, already it’s very different. It’s not a long, time ago in a galaxy far, far away, it’s now in a galaxy far, far away," Feige said.
Anyhow, production on Guardians of the Galaxy is shaping up nicely as director James Gunn and the film crew were spotted shooting unknown scenes at Hemel Hempstead Hospital in London earlier this week. "The filming did not affect patient services in any way and the film company has made a donation to hospital funds for the use of our facilities,” said a spokesman for the Hemel Hempstead hospital. And not too far away at Shepperton Studios, construction of a practical spacecraft cockpit that measures about 25ft by 15ft is underway for other Guardians scenes. What do you think?
“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!
