Kevin Feige Reveals When GOTG Takes Place; Names Ronan The Accuser As Main Villain

Kevin Feige discusses Guardians of the Galaxy, confirming that the movie does take place at the same time as the other "Phase Two" movies and reveals that Lee Pace's Ronan The Accuser is indeed the main villains. He also talks more about how much of Thanos we should expect to see in the movie.

"The general answer is yes," Kevin Feige said when asked whether Guardians of the Galaxy takes place at the same time as Marvel's other "Phase Two" movies, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. "It's not exactly revealed what year or month it is in relation to the other Phase Two films. But yes, it's the same time." So, while it may take place at the same time, just how connected will it be to the aforementioned films? "Certainly more than the others. We've already said that Thanos plays a part in it and is a character in it. That in and of itself should tell you it's connected to the other worlds." Talking of Thanos, many fans expected the Mad Titan to be the main villain in the sequel to The Avengers, but it was recently confirmed that it will be Ultron who fills that role. So, will he be the main foe in Guardians of the Galaxy? Not quite! "Ronan The Accuser is very much the main bad guy. And Thanos is lurking above it all. You will learn more about Thanos in Guardians, for sure. Certainly you'll get more than the one turn around and smirk. You'll get much more than that!"

It's good. He should just be lurking about in the background in this. He can have a few scenes in Avengers: Age of Ultron. But then he should reign down on earth and be the main baddie in the 3rd Avengers.

Nice. Still can't believe this movie is getting made.

(On a sidenote: I never thought that the ill-fated 80s' New Universe would ever see the light of day again. Now that a version of Star Brand appears in Hickman's AVENGERS comic, there's a greater possibility we might see a New Universe character on the big screen one day. That blows my mind.)

AWESOME!!!! This is awesome news indeed. I can't wait to see them meet at some point...maybe not even a huge part in either movie(GOTG or Avengers 3) but It'd be awesome to see the "crossover".

Since people argue that MCU does not have many strong villians except Loki and even thats debateable, Ronan The Accuser can be THE villian of Marvel till Ultron comes out, He could be The Darth Vader of Marvel, he is a strong and prideful warrior with a code of honor and thats interesting

Yeah Thanos will be Marvel best villain. Yeah the same studio who bring you villains and enemies that get their ass stomped to the ground in less than 5 seconds. Thanos has no competition in that category if he can last 10 seconds and actually challenge the heroes. That or if he is running away every time the heroes come to face him.

@Batmaniac, that's your opinion but every thread doesn't need to be about butthurt over Affleck choice. This isn't the same Affleck from the Gigli days.

@gmoney, I also hope that Thanos is super deadly and kicks major butt. I'm hoping that Ultron kicks major butt and isn't a push over. The biggest weakness for MCU has been its villains so far. Winter Soldier will be great but we already know he's a good guy. Don't know as much about Thor's villains. But I would love if MCU would give us Baron Zemo, Bullseye, Taskmaster and The Hood.

Ronan huh......Ms. Marvel or Captain Marvel is coming soon I bet my life on it!!! They see that (and don't take this the wrong way folks & I know you will but) DC isn't making a move with Wonder Woman so Marvel is gonna beat them to it with the first high profile female superhero action movie. Now please I'm not tryna start the Marvel/DC or DC/Marvel war believe me but it's gonna happen no matter what I say.
