Scott Porter Comments On Being A REAL Comic Book Fan And Possibly Playing 'Nova'

Earlier today, we brought you the news that Scott Porter is interested in playing 'Nova' in Guardians of the Galaxy. Well, for those of you doubting whether or not he's a "real" fan, the actor has taken to Twitter to talk more about his comic book cred and how he think 'Nova' will fit into the movie.

It's not often that we feature a story here on CBM where the people we're talking about take the time to check out what you guys are saying or directly respond to a rumour or article. Not too long ago, Scott Snyder (writer of DC's Batman) decided to get involved with a heated debate about a conversation he had with Rob Liefeld, but it's a rare occurrence. Well, thanks to Twitter, some actors are more in touch with their fans with others, and Scott Porter decided to respond to the article we posted earlier today in which he expressed his interest in playing 'Nova' in Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy.

Click HERE to check out the link in that first Tweet. It leads to a podcast that Scott Porter took part in, proving once and for all that he is - like the rest of us here - a REAL comic book fan. As we mentioned earlier, the actor is no stranger to the genre after voicing 'Cyclops' in the X-Men anime series and lending his voice to video game X-Men: Destiny. Finally, he goes on to share his thoughts on how 'Nova' will play into James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. As you can see, he makes a VERY good point!

He looks the part to me and He seems to be the only one interesting in the role so I'm all for him.

He looks the part. As long as he can act I'm fine with it. He's a fan so that's some points in his favor as well.

People actually TALK to Josh Wilding? Wow, did NOT expect that. ;)

Back on topic, this guys seems OK, I guess. I don't know who he is, so I can't really say if he'd be a good Nova or not.

I've always seen him as Barry Allen, actually. But, if he's really that eager to play Nova, why not.

LMAO at him calling out all who has been doubting him. This guy is going all out because he's wanting to be a part of the BIG MCU, and why shouldn't he? This guy is clearly a HUGE comic book geek like us, he's passionate about the role as Nova (or he could do an awesome Star-Lord, IMO. Either one is cool with me), and he'll do anything to get that role. So I'm all for this man. So go for it, Porter. :)

Nova FTW!!!

P.S. I'm still lmao at him calling out those who were doubting him. D@mn! XD

I don't give a sh!t if Nova isn't part of the Gaurdians of the Galaxy. If we're going cosmic on Phase 2, then bring in Nova, d@mmit. I'm sure there has been times in the comics where both GotG and Nova met up or even teamed up. So again, NOVA FTW!! :)

Like I said on the last post. Scott Porter is an ok choice for Nova. No need for Scott to call everybody a hater!

AH SNAP! This dude called out all the haters that were drinking the haterrade. Good for you Porter!

On another note, we need Nova in GOTG, or in a solo film.. ASAP!

All joking aside, I think he's a good fit. But then again, I'm a dog.

It would be cool if Nova was in the film, but they would more and likely save him for a sequel. But I can see Scott Porter as him or Star Lord.

I really could car less if he plays Nova or not. I'm not sure there's enough room in this movie to do Nova justice though. He needs his own film and then a possible tie in down the road.

Sorry, I say Nova cameo in Guardians, slight intro at most, and then give Nova his own full fledged movie in Phase 3.

they could make Nova, Guardians and Quasar movies and have them lead into an Annihilation trilogy. that would be epic. he actually looks pretty good for Nova

Wow, this guy's really pulling no punches with the begging is he?

Next thing you know, he'll walk uninvited into James Gunn's office dressed in a Catwoman costume.

I just listened to that podcast he linked to from his Twitter and I gotta say he knows wayyyy more about comics than I do. This guy is for real.

The crazier part is that I watched this movie he's in called "The Good Guy" on Netflix one night and I remember thinking that the guy in the movie was a very good actor but I didn't know who he was and didn't know his name until now.

So lets recap:

A) He's a very good actor
B) He's a comic book nerd (possibly a bigger comic book nerd than 80% of the people on this site)

I'd say this more than qualifies him to play almost any superhero in either the Marvel or DC movieverses.

I could easily see him playing:

1) Wally West (or even Barry Allen if they go that route)

2) Kyle Raynor (he mentioned in the podcast this is his favorite GL --Personally Kyle is my 2nd favorite after John Stewart but if DC is really going to reboot GL in the JLA movie then maybe they should just use Kyle Raynor or John Stewart instead of using Hal again)

3) Green Arrow (in the vein of the DCnU Green Arrow - younger version)

4) Aquaman (if DC insists on including him - Porter obviously looks the part)

5)HANK PYM (I think he could pull this role off perfectly)

6) Iron Fist

7) Nova
