UPDATE: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 'Alien Spaceship Crash' Filming Planned At UK Farmland

Revealing the film's first potential filming site on location, Marvel has requested temporary use of a farmland in the UK for scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy involving the aftermath of a crashed ship.

With Guardians of the Galaxy set largely in the depths of space, principal photography is primarily taking place on sound stages in UK film studios. However, given that producer Kevin Feige has previously implied that at least 5 percent of the movie is set on earth, recent proposal applications indicate the Marvel production is keen on shooting on a farmland in Bramley, Guildford, Surrey.

While Marvel is currently awaiting approval from the Waverley Borough Council, who've yet to report any objections, the application statement reveals, "The natural slope of the land at Tilsey Farm, Horsham Road, (photographed below) has informed the decision to film in this area as it creates an appropriate back drop to the proposed alien spaceship crash scene."

"The 'crash site' film set will be 75 metres by 75 metres and formed through the excavation of the soil to form an elongated 'crater,'" a portion reads. "The estimated range of depth of dig will be 0.5 meters to 1.75 meters, below field level. The associated 'prop' debris of the 'spaceship' will be positioned on the site. The special effects to be used on the filming day only, will stimulate the immediate aftermath of a crashed space ship. Effects will include: Ground Hits (Pyrotechnic charge), Black Smoke, LPG Fire, White Smoke, and Wind Machines..."

UPDATE: a rendering of the film set reveals the scene(s) is being called 'Yondu's Crash,' indicating that actor Michael Rooker's character would be piloting the spaceship when it crash lands on earth.



The production timetable also reveals that set preparation would start on July 27th and last a maximum of two weeks before filming takes place for just a day, on August 23rd, with the farmland expected to be back to normal by early September. Meanwhile, an extra hired on Guardians of the Galaxy recently revealed that his alien character required him to shave his head as he'll be wearing a prosthetic, have green eyes and fangs! Although i'm still curious who will be the voice actor cast as 'Rocket Raccoon'?

I would love to hear Jason Statham as the voice of Rocket, such a small creature with a large man's voice. It could also be a chance for Nathan Fillion to participate. He says he's too busy to act in a comic movie, sure it won't take up that much time for some VO, he's no stranger to it.

And for people talking about a talking tree and raccoon can't work in this movie, Gullimero del toro will have a talking plant, (swamp thing), in heaven sent.

Vance Astro was first. This is def about Quill's origin story. I really hope they don't spend too much screen time on this AND MOST IMPORTANTLY don't turn Peter into a weak character with daddy issues (seems thats what BMB's Guardians is doing). I don't care about Spartax, give me the Kree Hero!!!!!!!

Chronologically speaking the 31st century team was formed in the 31st century however chronologically speaking they appeared first back in the 70s because they traveled back in time...the new Guardians weren't formed until a few years back.

according to guardthegalaxy.com the crash site is called "Yondu's Crash". Yondu is a member of the original guardians of the galaxy and is supposed to be a villain in this movie...perhaps relating to the fact that his god Anthos is Thanos?
