GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Looks Set To Introduce A Very Unexpected Comic Book Location

A closer look at recent photos from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 appear to confirm that the Marvel Studios threequel will take us to a key location from the comic books. Read on for details...

The prevailing theory is that Chukwudi Iwuji will play The High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and many of you may already know that the villain is Rocket Racoon's creator.

Recently, set photos have taken us to a planet inhabited by humanoid animals, leaving fans to wonder if they might be the next stage in The High Evolutionary's experiments after giving life to Rocket. Now, though, The Cosmic Circus has done some digging and the site believes these scenes take place on Counter-Earth. That planet was created by the villain and filled with "New Men."

In the comics, they have similar animalistic appearances, and Counter-Earth, meant as a purer version of the original, has no superheroes on it. Adam Warlock has ties to the planet, while The High Evolutionary has frequently plotted to try and merge the real Earth with his twisted replica.

Needless to say, it's pretty easy to see how this will factor into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and would explain why Star-Lord returns to "Earth" after quickly leaving the planet in Avengers: Endgame.

With just under a year until the movie is released, we're not expecting a trailer to be released quite yet.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.

@PantherKing - really don’t see it happening. They messed up letting him go and managed to persuade him back to finish of the Guardians, but it sounds like he’s got a few things lined up over at DC now

@PantherKing - Maybe for a show connected to the Guardians like how he made Peacemaker after TSS. Although I think he's gonna be busy with Peacemaker S2 and his other TSS spin-off

The unexpected place is gonna be Counter-Earth? I thought we had some reporting on this a while ago already, so it doesn't come as a surprise to me at all

With all the talk about High Evolutionary how is Counter Earth unexpected? Wisconsin is unexpected. No one would expect the Great Lakes Avengers.

Those are genuinely pretty nifty practical creature effects, making it all the more dissappointing that Gorr is just going to be Christian Bale, with shaved head and painted white.
