Milton's poem Paradise Lost has influenced many films, comics and books over the years and Alex Proyas has been trying to get a direct adaptation of the ground at Legendary Pictures fro some time now. Well, it looks like things may be picking up a gear as Bradley Cooper is the man they want for the Devil himself..

After helping launch "The Hangover" franchise, Legendary Pictures wants back in business with Bradley Cooper, who is in early talks to play Lucifer in an adaptation of John Milton's epic 17th-century poem "Paradise Lost."

An official offer has yet to be made, but Cooper is eager to take the part and negotiations are expected to begin shortly, sources tell Variety.

Apparently this movie adap will be crafted as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D., and detail the war in heaven between the righteous Archangel Michael and the proud Lucifer. More updates as we have em, but do you think Cooper seems right for the role of Lucifer?

This is going to be AWESOME!!! Waited YEARS for this to get the greenlight!!!

Lucifer, once the most beautiful angel, rebelled against God and took 1/3 of the angels with him!

This is going to be soooo fu*king EPIC!!!

Bradley Cooper? Meh, I'd prefer Jude Law or Daniel Craig.

@soberchimera61- True, Jude Law has the evil, sneaky looking face that is perfect for Lucifer!

This is AWESOME. Always been a huge fanatic of the poem- "Paradise Lost" it teaches such a valuable lesson while also portraying God and Lucifer in such daring roles. I always thought it'd make a great movie and now that they're finally doing it- FU*KING YES!!!!!!!

Wonder who would play Michael? I think Charlie Hunnam would be great choice for that role. He needs bigger roles. I havent seen him in movies for a long time! In television yes thou!

@TheIntruder- Yes, if the movie can use THAT original artwork, it would be fu*kiing epic. Visually and artistically appealing to ALL.

Anyone else remember when Heath Ledger was going to play this role?...Then he passed and then Craig was in talks for a bit and then it sort of went away...strange that this hasn't been made till now.

I want to see a very heroic Lucifer- one who believes HE is the truest authority over all of God's angels. I want this to be a film where people leave the theater thinking "geez, Lucifer is the MOST like humanity. He is the most relatable" I want that type of a multi-layered villain.

Visuals for God would be awesome. Maybe they can lead into a sequel or reference at the end with Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden.

I hope they pour the BIGGEST [frick]ING BUDGET into this. [frick] all the CBMs...this one is more personal. This is about our lord God sending his troops to battle Lucifer. Damn Saint Michael battling Lucifer...watching his fall from grace. This is going to be EPIC!!!!

I really don't know how they're going to go about adapting this.

Hopefully this doesn't look too cheap and scyfy. Damn that would suck. They need to pour a MASSIVE budget into this mother. This is the ULTIMATE one i mean damn...a massive holy war between all the angels.

That is supposed to be the most visual example of humanity's origin...or rather Lucifer's origin and how things were before we came to be. And it answers for why there is evil in this world we live in.

The hows and whys of the universe and the reason for why things are the way they are.

This is going to be epic. But this is also the one thing they CANNOT afford to butcher. Religious zealots and EVERYONE alike will have their eyes set on this project.

@weneedrevelation- EXACTLY. Lucifer needs to be relatable. he represents humanity's best and worst traits- pride for instance.

People need to be able to relate with Lucifer and understand that "yeah hey, we all feel that way sometimes"

I took Biblical Literature and it's contemporaries last year and we did an in depth study of Paradise Lost. It was awesome. Cooper would be a fantastic Lucifer.

This may be true, till i just don't see him as Lucifer in this. Then again i hadn't known he went to an actors school. I just don't know atm. I read someone mention micheal fassbender and i think that is a much better fit for this role. Just at the moment im skeptical. at least he isnT Taylor Lautner lol

Has the Catholic League started boycotting this yet? Gotta love free publicity.

Anyway, I hope "Dark City" Alex Proyas shows up, and not "I, Robot" Proyas. Better be a part for Rufus Sewell.

@RexDartEskimoSpy - Some catholic/judaic/christian people are already doing that.

If we can make CBMs about Greek, Roman and Norse mythology, why we can't make one based on Judaic-Christian belief (which to me is also allegoric and mythological)? We'll have to wait untill these are dead religions (like those) to make a movie out of it?

People are SO touchy... The problem with this movie is exactly this: since there are soooo many people who could get butthurt in some aspect they're gonna pussify it to make it acceptable.

COULD be great. We'll see if it will.

IF ITS DONE RIGHT IT COULD BE EPIC....BUT I FEAR THAT IT IF THEY USE SOME OF THE ARTWORK FROM ABOVE IT WILL JUST BE LIKE WATCHING A PRIEST OR LEGION STYLE OF MOVIE OVER AGAIN.

KEEP WINGS TO A MINIMUM.....AND FOR HEAVENS SAKE DONT MAKE LUCIFER OUT TO BE THE HERO.....TRYING TO FREE GODS CHILDREN FROM THE FATHER.
THIS HAS TO BE DONE VERY CAREFULLY OR ITS JUST GONNA STINK.
