After how the 2016 Ghostbusters movie performed, there hasnt been any new information about a sequel , but according to the director of Spy and Ghostbusters, Paul Feig , he would love making a sequel.
During CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Feig expressed that he's still hopefull about a the studio making a sequel for his all female team "We would love to make another movie; it’s really up to the studio, we had so much fun making that movie.”
Despite Dan Akroyd's comments about the direction that Paul Feig took for the 2016 movie, and Ivan Reitman betting on an animated spin-off, Paul Feig wpold like making another movie for his fans "The movie’s just really built an audience in the two years since it’s been out. I get contacted every day by people who are such fans of it, and so many women who are inspired by seeing women in science,"
"I will go to my grave so proud of that movie, and so proud of what that cast did in that film.” Feig said.
The studio considered the movie's $US300 millions total box office as a break even, making a sequel very unlikely, despite the optimism of the Director.
