"Who You Gonna Call?" Plenty Of New Footage In These Latest TV Spots For The GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot

These new Ghostbusters television ads contain quite a few new snippets of footage from the Paul Feig-directed reboot. By all accounts, this movie is its own thing and won't be set in the same continuity as the first two - but there are still plenty of callbacks, including cameos from the original cast members, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and of course, Slimer.

The classic apparitions can be seen in action here along with the new team: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth.

Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and Abby Yates (McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Gilbert reunites with Yates and others when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15.

I'll sum up 90% of the subsequent posts in one comment:

"It looks horrible! This ain't Ghostbusters!"
"This is ruining Ghostbusters. Paul Feig raped my childhood!"
"Remakes/Reboots suck, Hollywood out of ideas, yadda yadda"
"THIS IS THE WORST THING TO HAPPEN IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!!!!!1!!!!!"

I think that takes care of most of the haters.

Personally, I think it looks okay. The comedy hasn't worked so far, but I love Ghostbusters and Ghostbusting in all forms. The action looks really cool to me, so even if it's not funny, I'm not that bummed. That said, I love the cast and I've loved all of Feig's movies so far, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

@TheTyrantVirus - I think this looks terrible. Bad comedy, bad effects, bad writing, and the worst of it all - IT IS THE EXACT SAME MOVIE. Judging from the trailers, the movie is just a point by point remake of the GB just with a new cast which a reboot of a franchise SHOULDN'T do. Make up a new story instead of recycling the same one, Feig!

@TheTyrantVirus - I'm right behind ya buddy. I posted the early leaked review and read it a long time ago but I'm still gonna give it a shot. I don't like going off of anyone's critique. Sure as hell not gonna listen to anyone hasn't seen the movie yet that's for sure.
