New Wolfman Movie: Old school at its best!

Benicio Del Toro is the new Wolfman. Is he villain by fate or by nature?

A cult classic is reborn after 68 years of staying hidden from the shadows. Universal’s upcoming new Wolfman Movie, looks fresh and epic!!! Movie director Joe Johnston along with talented lead actors Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, and sassy Emily Blunt are ready to deliver an intense thriller flick that will leave you crying out for more in the moon. Based on the classic 1941 Wolfman, played back then by the legendary Lon Chaney Jr., the new remake is brilliantly crafted, has an amazing art direction, and cinematography is eye candy. The well practice of all school and keeping it to the basics is always a winning formula that never goes wrong.

This is what the remake of the suspenseful ‘41 vintage classic is all about. True story locations have changed, but the upgraded Wolfman from Chaney to Del Toro’s beast character is just superb! No too hairy to look like a three day long with out shaving caveman, and not artificial and grotesque to look like the "Van Helsing" (Hugh Jackman) Werewolf.

The thing that catches my attention is that Anthony Hopkins as Sir John Talbot is on par as when he played Professor Abrahma Van Helsing in "Bram Stoker’s Dracula". It’s kind of like Van Helsing meets the “beast’s” father. Curious ain’t it? So in Valentine’s month, obviously 2010, be prepared to see how Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot, does hairy things to spook you off from your seat, when hopefully on February 12 we have a full moon premiere!!!

I heard Del Toro was spotted drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

He's the hairy, hairy gent who ran amuck in Kent. Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair. You better stay away from him. He'll rip your lungs out, Jim. Huh, I'd like to meet his tailor.

Great song, and I hope that this movie is just as good. It sounds promising. I like that they're talking about doing this old-school style. It worked for Lon Chaney, it can work today.

ok after being blown away by the trailer after waiting for any signs of life from this project, does anyone else feel like maybe someone should jump into the creature from the black lagoon? never really had another run past the old universal classics, and damn i think it's about time.

I was way more excited about this before I heard about certain major deviations from the original story. I love the original and I'll definitely check it out but I'm less confident than I had been...

This movie is gonna be the shit! Stellar f*cking cast. If this turns out as good as it looks from the trailer, maybe we can all breathe a sigh of relief that Captain America is in good hands.

Johnny Krypton: Care to share with the rest of the class?
I am definitely curious.

One thing I love about this movie is how much it reminds me of Marvel's Werewolf By Night. Not a popular character but one of my favorites among Marvel horror titles. I collect all kinds of horror comics.

Also if we are going to compare it to the 1941 film "The Wolf Man", (which I would rather not because they are so different), one of the things that make this so cool is that they are really getting into depicting the Werewolf with all his unique powers and legendary quirks intact. Like only being able to be killed by a silver bullet, super human strength and agility, killing people with it's claws like Sabertooth does. When I watch " The Wolfman" I am amazed how scary LOOKING and how excellent the special effects are for their time; I recognize the artistry of the film which is considrable.
But I still find myself longing for the unstopable Werewolf of 19th and 20th century films and books that tears people limb from limb, and gets up from being shot with an ordinary bullet like it's no prob. The lon Cheney Jr Wolfman seemed as fragile as an ordinary man, and that took some of the fun out of it.
