Sony's Screen Gems has confirmed September 14, 2012 as the release date for the currently unnamed fifth Resident Evil film.

Milla Jovovich will again star, and it is currently unknown if Paul W.S. Anderson will be involved again.

Fun fact is that the last three films in the franchise were also released in September.

as a resident evil fan, I can say this franchise is not considered resident evil anymore. the only reference the game basically is Umbrella. sigh... This is one of them franchises that really does need a reboot. sigh..can't wait for Resident Evil 6(the game) though.

wait I thought they were rebooting it with the SAME PREMISE AS THE FIRST CRAPPY ONE!!!!!.....this series is like the Zombies that made it famous.....can't stay down....this has NOTHING.....NOTHING!!!! to do with Resident Evil.....as the great Spoony one has said....BETRAYAL!!!!! BETRAYAL!!!!! B F'ing TRAYAL.......this series is more of a joke than the games have become with RE5....in fact....how can they continue....theres no game to milk ideas from....oh no!!!*joke*.....either make it true to the source or DON'T CALL IT RESIDENT EVIL!!!...how do any of the later games take place in a Resident?....you are in Spain and a Military Island base in 4....5 has you in a bajillion places
