Let me start off by saying I have NOT read the book.
(But now will). This is an AMAZING movie from start
to finish.
Leanrdo Dicaprio plays a federal marshall named Teddy
Daniels, who is heading to a psychiatric hospital on a
secluded island off the coast of massachusetts, but he didn't
come alone, his partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) accompanies him
to this shady place, and this where the mystery starts, or
should i say begins?
I don't want to give any spoilers, so I can't really say much
about the plot, other than, that two federal marshalls are trying to figure out
how a patient dissapeared from her room, and this is were the plot thickens.
This film is skillfully crafted, and leaves
you guessing all the way to the end credits, and then all the way
to you're car, and then to you're house. The movie trailer sum's up
the basic plot nicely without giving anything away.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays this role with all his heart, he gives an
amazing performance in this thriller. The intensity in which he portrayed
Teddy Daniels in this 1954 period peice is nothing less than stellar.
and he can actually do a great boston accent. very belivible. Ben Kingsley
plays Dr. Cawley, the head of the mental facillaty, and gives a very
memorable performance, in my opinion Leo blows his performance out
of the water, but he still does a great job at portraying the "evil"
guy in this movie. there were alot of surprise actors showing up in this film
Max von Sydow (the priest from the exorcist),Jackie Earle Haley, and
Michelle Williams as Dolores all give memorable performances.
All and all great movie, this is a must see, for any thriller lover
or any Martin Scorsese fan like myself.
this movie is an easy 5/5
the pacing was great, little scares here and there and alot of
shockers (plot wise). This is a great way to start out
2010's awesome movie schedule.
