Stephen King's Firestarter Is Getting Rebooted

The 1984 cult classic horror movie starring a nine year old Drew Barrymore as a pyromaniac...Is getting rebooted.

The creepy and unnerving original Firestarter starred a young Drew Barrymore as an insane and creepy little pyromaniac on the run from the government and it was based of an epic Stephen King book of the same name. Sounds awesome right? Well get ready because we get to see it again!

With a growing trend of rebooting or remaking...well everything, Horror movies seemed to have taken the biggest part in what is hopefully just a fad. With remakes of beloved favorites such as Halloween, Friday The 13th, Last House On The Left, and even A Nightmare On Elm Street it is sad to say that none of them are all that great or even good for that matter.

Firestarter 2.0(as I will be calling it that for the rest of the article) will be based of the novel like the original. Yet will it be a reinvention?(does this make any sense whatsoever to anyone else?)

The production company De Laurentiis Co. chairman Martha De Laurentiis had this to say on the project:

"We see this as a unique, character-driven thriller with a supernatural edge, based on a timeless concept and enhanced by recent visual effects advances,"

The film will be written by Mark L. Smith, with the studio looking to turn the one book into a movie franchise. There is currently no director or cast but stay tuned for updates.
