True Blood Movie In The Works

True Blood Movie In The Works

Apparently after another couple of seasons of the insanely popular show, we will see Sookie, Bill, and the rest of the various fanged, clawed, and frequently naked residents of Bon Temps hit the big screen..

According to Whatsplaying, HBO are taking steps to ride the popularity of what has become their flagship show, True Blood, all the way into theatres. The show recently finished up its third season to generally mixed reviews(for the series finale anyway), yet that did nothing to stall the popularity of the show which has to be seen as something of a phenomenon. Apparently series creator Alan Ball is looking to direct the film adaptation himself.

True Blood does take pride in its gore/sex content and certainly fully exploits HBO's "anything goes" policy. Aside from that there is some extremely high quality writing and acting on offer for those willing to give it a go.

A fourth season will follow, then another is expected before the film goes into production; nothing is certain yet.

Yeah I have a little thing for her myself, red hair and fangs..can't beat em!

Anyway, since the comic came out before the movie, I guess True Blood will be an official CBM;)

I like true blood, but I didnt like how every friggin charcter in season 3 had therer own side story, the only one that was interesting was sookies/bill and erics stories.

Actually, Sookie and Bill had the most boring story line this past season and i am SO DONE with their "love". Sookie is so needy and bill is like some emo vamp "sookah is mine!!". I really liked James Frain/Franklin...he was hilarious and he deserved more screen time. Also the whole jason Stackhouse/Crystal/Hotshot storyline was just all kinds of boring. Sookie needs to be with Eric, Tara need to join the fellowship of the sun, lafayette and Jesus need more fleshing out.

True Blood is awesome. Eric is the best, Sookie needs to ditch Bills pussy ass and get with Eric. Whenever Eric and Pam are on screen it's the best parts of the show. However, it is well written, (except for EVERYONE ending up with powers!) and I certainly hope it lasts more than 5 seasons... although if Eric ever meets the true death I'll probably lose interest!

Bill and Sookie have become tiresome but its the nature of the beast. Both male and female leads in ensemble shows always get the most backlash. Look at Jack and Kate in Lost. Hopefully now that they are separated we will see different(better) sides to them.

I really liked season 3 right up until that finale. They should have ended the season the episode before it..now THAT would have been a cliff hanger!

selinakyle - 9/20/2010, 4:48 PM
@ror...exactly! The episode before the finale should have been the finale. This was by far my fave scene from the past season. lol

Cool to hear about the possibility. They did that with the "Sex and the City" franchise so this could be a reality.

@RorMachine & @MsKyle08
Yeah, the season finale just didn't end right. Now that you both mentioned it the finale felt more like it should've been the season 4 premiere. The episode before it would've been a better finale. Just wonder how they can pull off a film. Would there be a certain story from the books that would work as a single film?

Well why don't you all just pretend the second to last episode was the season finale, and you got a free sneak peak of season 4 HahHAHAaH.

Then you won't be so let down, because you're all seriously bumming me out. STFU already HAHahHAAH ;)

Their season finales always are a bit meh. At least the past two. But when you get to watch them right before the new season starts, they always play much better.

Patience yous mugs.

@smallvillefanricky *Someone is angry they can't afford HBO. : P

As much as i hated twilight i love this show. But I am not looking forward to a movie. It is perfect as a tv show. They won't be able to get the same sets and if they do they are going to have a big movie feel which could take away from the realness and grittiness of it. I am worried the story would be forced or potentially ruin the series.(I can already see it: TrueBlood in Hawaii.) Alot of tv shows don't translate well onto the big screen and i think this is one of them and I am one of the biggest TrueBlood fans of anyone i know. I would go see it no matter what. And that is ultimately why they would even make it.

Aeon Flux
Good Burger
Alvin and the Chipmunks
The Last Airbender
Bewitched
Dudley Do-Right
X-Files
Flinstones
George of the Jungle
Josie and the Pussycats
Lost in Space'
Scooby-Doo *as mentioned above
Wild Wild West *as mentioned above
And i am sure there are many others that could be mentioned that blew cock. These are just some from a list i found.

Pretty much these movies are just forced out by studios looking to make a quick buck. Very rarely are they good. Im not saying this won't be a good movie, I just would rather them not threaten to soil the name of an awesome show.

Dude, those films were rebooted adaptations of older tv shows, different casts, different directors, different in practically every way. There's is a big difference in putting together a continuation of the story with the same team from the tv show.
KevinBacon01
KevinBacon01 - 9/20/2010, 6:55 PM
@Ror Yeah i guess you have a point. But still not all of them are X-files, All of the SNL movies, some of the Star Trek movies, The Last Airbender and they still blew. And actually alot of those movies had help from some of the writers and creative minds behind the original projects.

Great show with a great take on the supernatural world. almost all the actors/actresses are phenominal, even the ones that only make a 2-5 episode stint. I actually liked Sam's side story, but am getting a little sick of Tara's "why me" type attitude. I'd be interested in a movie but they should just leave it be. Their stories are best served over a long period of time to create more intricacies in the plot.

KevinBacon01 - 9/20/2010, 9:43 PM
@ sideswipe84 Dude i know! Tara should just [frick]ing die already her story lines are always so shitty and boring and stupid. And that new haircut?!?!? WTF?

Season 3 was very wishy washy to me. I love an episode and then hate an episode. They almost lost me episode 4. I don't remember what it was about that episode now but it almost made me say [frick] you to the series. THe finale was definitely bunk and the real climax was the episode before. THAT was the jam, like everyone says.

I've wanted Tara to die since day one but I think it's hilarious how much they tease us with the prospect of her death. Franklin tormenting her was awesome! I wanted him to kill her so bad! She'll probably die in some stupid way like a car wreck or something.

I think a movie will mark the death of the series.

It's a great show, although this season was pretty much a giant let down. As far as a movie goes, I think they should stick with television, but I'd still watch it when it hits dvd. Oh and I want Jessica to have my undead babies.
