"War Machine makes a very impactful appearance in the movie," Cheadle told MTV News. "It's significant."

As for how his character, Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes has changed since the first film, Cheadle said the ramifications of Tony Stark's big reveal that he was Iron Man in the first film will be central to the theme of the sequel.

"It's gotten deeper, because in the first film Tony wasn't saying he was Iron Man. But now that he's embraced it, there's all this attendant problems, pressure, and questions that all of the characters around him have to deal with."

The early articles revealed that rockwells character will buildnwar machine cause Tony refuses to help the government. I think stark and rhodey may be on opposites side in this one. At least in the begining.

WEAPON911 - I think it's the "under dog" factor. The leader or the best is never the coolest. Look at Cyclops (leader) and Superman (the best - one of) but they don't have the cool factor others have. It's not just the look it's the flaws that make Batman, Wolverine and Spiderman so like able. Take any film/comic with a group of heroes and I guarantee it's not the "leader" who's most popular eg. Tombstone, Doc Holiday is easily the most loved character. Why, because he has flaws which make him interesting.

@ howlett

actually, any interview you read with anyone who has written x-men will tell you cyclops is their favorite character to write because he's so layered and flawed. otherwise, i agree with you

@Howlett@ I agree, I never like the main character/leaders most of the time, it works for Anime that way too, I hate Naruto but love Garaa, I like Inuyasha but love Seshomaru, like Goku but Love Vegeta/ Trunks, the only exception to the rule is Itchigo I love him more then any of the other characters in the show, oh and Optimus Prime.

I think that is why I like the lone heroes more ala Spider-man, I know he teams up a lot but most of the time he just does his own thing, this also maybe why I don't read a lot of super hero comics, I prefer the stories about regular people that have crazy shit happen to them, like Terry More's Echo.

i bet War Machine is going to be a bad guy in this. because Hammer is suppling him with the guns needed to retro-fit the original mark 3 armor ( and i seriously doubt Tony handed the armor over) then Rhodes is goin to use it to fight tony. cuz tony is goin against the government by not giving them the blueprints to the armor. so i dont think that war machine is going to sweep in and save the day. but as these movies go at the end of the movie he will probably help tony win

Warmachine rules, I hope they give him enogh screen time with and without armor.

I also hope his armor has its own identity just like in the comics.
