Military's Real-Life Version Of "Iron Man" Suit Nearing Testing Phase

News stories about the military's development of high-tech suits of armor which would imbue soldiers with superhuman abilities abounded during the release of the first Iron Man movie in 2008. Well now, reports say they will be ready to test this summer.

Every comic book fan has dreamed of what it would be like don an Iron Man suit. This suit, which is called TALOS(The Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit), will probably be the closest we can get. This high-tech armor has drawn comparison to the Iron Man suit because of the similar design and innovative technological features.

While the suit has no flight capabilities, it offers plenty of amazing features that would make Tony Stark himself proud. Features like: liquid armor that could turn solid in mil-seconds to protect from gunfire and explosive ordinance, sprays medical foam on a sustained injury, and keeps track of your vitals.

TALOS is being developed for military use. The suits could be delivered to special operations forces as early as June for testing.

If everything goes according to plan, the suits are projected to be deployed in the field by August 2018. This suits not only give our military an advantage over enemy forces, but will also exceptionally increase soldiers chances of survival in combat. That's what we call a win-win situation.

What do you think? Would you like to get yours hands on one of these suits? Sound off in the comments section below.

Well, this isn't exactly cool. It means that if a country has those suits, the other countries just have to obey and don't go against it. It's such a shame that after so many wars, people still think that this is a solution to our problems. But it's all about business anyway. Everyone wants to make money. In the words of Iron Man ' Yeah, peace. I love peace. I'd be out of a job for peace.'

I should try seeing how many times I can make first in one day, and take a shot each time. My spelling will deteriorate to mindless caveman babble by the end of the day.

Am I the only one who's frightened by the idea of the military having their own Iron Man?

Do you Americans really even need one, since you've already [frick]ed over the world with everything else you already have?

TheDarkPhoenix gets my internets! Not for posting first, but for the content of his post!

This is real life. Advances in a field that diminishes the very value of human life - like, well, war - are in no way "cool".

Would I like to have a suit that can fly, and protect me from dangerous situations? Sure.

Would I go to war with it? No. And I don't understand how these things are going to be mass produced, when the cost of each must be through the roof! Wayne Enterprises couldn't mass produce a simple kevlar/nomex suit!

@AlexanderLykins
'This isn't a good thing. Not everyone piloting these things will be Tony Stark.'

Exactly!! These suits are made in the comics so that the superheroes can fight the super villains. But in real life, I think these suits are made by the 'villains' so they can fight innocent people, just because they happen to live in a land that has oil or something else they can sell.

'With great power, comes great responsibility' but nobody seems to understand that...

@Getsuga
So we Americans have f'ed over everything you say?
Riiiiiight...you keep believing that.

The reality is American ideas & ideals have done more for the world than you can imagine.
Well,you could imagine it if you were intelligent.
Do some research & stop being spoon fed your info by others dummy.

I'm not saying these suits should be used to rule with an iron fist. I don't want the US military to become like S.H.I.E.L.D. in CA:TWS. I don't want ordinary civilians to be in fear of these. The only people that should fear these suits are enemies of the USA.

Unfortunately, the United States has more enemies than any other country in the world. In the right hands, these suits could do a lot of good. These suits shouldn't be used to start WWIII, because the last thing I want is another war. But I'm for using them in necessary combat situations to help people. Not to mention, these suits could saves soldiers lives, which is very important. I don't support war, but every country needs a military force to keep people safe from both domestic and foreign threats. That's the sad reality we live in. And I personally wouldn't mind wearing the suit myself just to try it out.

At the end of the day, I will always believe that right makes might, not the other way around. That will never change.

@TheDarkPhoenix LOL! I'm so honored I could help reach your goal. :P

@cipher Thanks man! Ha ha, that wouldn't be bad idea. You should tell the engineers over at MIT to whip something together. ;P

I'm not for it i'm actually against this just like Tony Stark having such a weapon being utilized by the government would it encourage or cause fear towards civilians and not forgetting not everyone piloting or controlling these suits could be in the right mind set. Not forgetting about the cost it'll take to produce these suits.
