Robert Downey Jr. Says Iron Man 2 Will Surprise Viewers

Robert Downey Jr. thinks the Iron Man 2 audience will be surprised by the story. Check it Out

Robert Downey Jr. has been having the time of his life, since his recent comeback with Tropic Thunder and of course Iron Man(2008). Now back for the sequel, RDJ, Tony Stark will face new enemies and & new alliances. The actor tells STv that movie-goers will be surprised by the story.

He said: "I'd always thought that we know Tony is a little nuts, so why don't we play with the expectations about the kind of stuff he does?

"I want to surprise people. There are some characters you may have heard are against Tony - well, we try to flip those expectations."

He said: "The best thing is that the first movie went well enough that there's not much second guessing my and Jon's instincts about what works, you know?

"For no good enough reason, the folks at Marvel decided we were a very apt team with our far-out ideas of how to put a different spin on a superhero movie."

Only a short month to go, before we're surprised in theater, May 7th.

I'm still worried about Rockwell's (seemingly cheesy character)....BUT, I have faith.

God I hope this works. Marvel's film future depends on it.

Well then we better not find it an obvious plot

Let's hope RDJ can keep his promises

this movie is going to be huge!

i wonder what they'll have installed for us at the end of the credits?

THOR cameo!!! :D

You stole my first @Lanceloco! RDJ will always be Iron Man. But Rockwell would've been a great fit. I'd rather see him as Tony stark than Hammer. But I gotta see the Movie.

I'm just worried I may not be able to get in to a good movie time on May 7th. I saw Iron Man and TIH on opening day, and I'm not breaking my Marvel movie tradition now.

@yowsaman: At this point, I'm anticipating a Thor cameo. I'll be really disappointed if there's no Thor reference in this movie (other than the prison "cameo").

Sorry @Blackout, I really don't post much, but, when it matters, I'll post LOL. I agree though, RDJ will always be Iron Man.

@ jusme6 same dude same. it will be verry disappointing if there is no thor cameo. chirs was even on the set of IM2. but i have to say this. the famous "prison" clip. no freaking way that is thor!

After recently reading the novelisation, I can honestly say that I'm 100% sure that this movie will be [frick]ing awesome! There is a lot of stuff that is going to look EPIC on the big screen! :)

I am SO hoping this movie will be a hit. Except for the ailing economy I have no reason to think it won't be.

But I definitely plan on doing my part. For the next month anytime anyone brings up movies at all, no matter who they are I will talk it up like it's the freaking "Godfather" lol

And then I will buy an IM2 t shirt and wear it around, in the hopes that people will ask me about it. (and they always do)

And then of course I will do the rounds of inviting different groups of people to go see it with me which means I will end up seeing it several times myself..

I always do that kind of stuff with Marvel movies.

@ quagmire

why so negative all the time?? its different for cameos in the X-Men Origins movies, because they just shoe-horn characters in for no real reason. the cameos in IM, and IH have both MATTERED and helped build toward the Avengers movie...they actually serve a PURPOSE for the MARVEL made movies!

all you ever post on here is negative bull shit. why do you come to site called Comic Book Movie, if you hate CBM's?? i'm just curious...

Corndog makes a good point, and I'd also like to say because these cameos actually have a purpose, a future. It's not just random characters, since all of these characters are leading up to Avengers. It makes so much sense I almost don't even understand why you are so dumbfounded by cameos lol.

This could be bad. It's cool that it worked the first time. Sometimes when given the freedom, bad choices are made.

I agree. I just hope it's a good surprise and not a bad one like the one in T4.

...however, I do trust Marvel. I don't think they'd let Jon and Robert get too crazy with the story.
