Scouted-Filming Spot for Iron Man 3 Confirmed!

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute confirms that Marvel Studios has taken interest in their multi-venue center, EMPAC located in Troy, New York, that we revealed exclusively last month. Check it out!

Several months ago, I was tipped that Marvel Studios were considering a filming location for the forthcoming Iron Man 3, inside the Experimental Media Performing Arts Center (EMPAC), located in Troy, New York. While making mention of it exclusively last month, I was told exactly that a studio rep took a tour of the EMPAC, scouting a place to act as the secret lab of the villain in the threequel.

While they reiterate that no decision was final, The Records confirms:

The college confirmed this week that Marvel expressed interest and visited the campus. But nothing is written in stone yet. And He did not say when the visit took place.

“These types of location scouting inquiries and negotiations about EMPAC take place all the time,” said Michael Mullaney, a Rensselaer spokesman. “At this point, there is absolutely nothing certain or definitive about Iron Man 3.”

While little is known regarding the story for Robert Downey Jr.'s third glorified return as Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, rumors has the Mandarin & the Ten Rings villainizing along with an unspecified role for The Young Victoria actress Emily Blunt.

And in April last year, actor Faran Tahir, 'Raza' from the original Iron Man movie revealed that he may return for the third installment, but nothing had been finalized. And he also stated that his character is the only connection to Mandarin, so they were still trying to figure out how it's going to fit.

With Disney distributing faithfully, Iron Man 3 is targeted for theaters May 3, 2013, most likely in 3D. What do you think?

I'm so stoked that work is being done on this movie already. I just hope that everyone involved focuses their intent on making the best Iron Man 3 movie possible and not "how can we put more in and make this bigger than Iron Man 1?" I think #2 suffered as a result of trying to get "more and bigger" than #1. I also don't know why everyone in Hollywood is fixated on trilogies. Is it because Star Wars was done in trilogies? Make a freakin' franchise like James Bond! Build each movie as though there are going to be 30 different Iron Man movies that will go on and on into perpetuity!

phoe1 - 12/5/2010, 10:02 AM
so possible villains??
i ve narrowed it down to these (all have big, tech hideouts and fit with the previous narrative/realism of IM1+2)

- Justine Hammer (apparently hammer is too young. my bad miss blunt..)
- Ezekiel Stane (son of Obadiah)
- Firepower
- Ghost
- Doctor Doom (dunno how the rights issues are)

i guess these could appear as accomplices
(like whiplash was to hammer in IM2)

- mauler
- crimson dynamo

personally, i really love the extremis storyline, but i guess it wouldnt really suit the movies' style?

IRON MAN'S NEW ARMOR, THIS WOULD BE SOMETHING TO SEE IN LIVE ACTION...

Iron Man’s Brand New Armor
Today Marvel.com showed off their latest: an all-new armor for the metal Avenger, Iron Man.

This newest iteration of ‘ole Shellhead’s battle-dress features the familiar Red and Gold color scheme, but a streamlined look and redistribution of colors gives it a unique style.

According to Marvel’s piece, the look was co-designed by now longtime Invincible Iron Man writer Matt Fraction and the designer for the Iron Man and Thor movies, Ryan Meinerding. Fraction is quoted as saying, “”The inspiration for the new design came from thinking about a sleeker, leaner, tougher Iron Man. If technology is increasingly getting smaller and lighter it seems like the Iron Man should do the same: ergonomic and aerodynamic.”

Marvel does note it will still be Tony Stark in the new armor, and the debut will come in April’s Invincible Iron Man #25.

kakinurmawth
kakinurmawth - 12/5/2010, 1:40 PM
I like centurion, but what about The Spartan I...too cheesy?? I'm looking at the pic and it TOTALLY looks like a warrior suit. He looks like he could rip Hulk's head off. So it needs to be something warrior status...

Tony Telling these electronics and automobile producers he will sell non-military version of his chest plate from them to reproduce and put in their merchandise.

Tony "putting on" the new iron man suit (sorry about the advertisement to the right)

Tony Flying back home after being left by the helicopter and Pepper Potts

Yea, Reed Richards says "So this isnt only an upgrade to extremis, its and upgrade to you too" in which Tony responds something along the lines of " Its not just an upgrade its the next generation" Thats not word for word but that gets the point across
