Yesterday, Phil Saunders started unveiling his fabulous Iron Man 3 concept art, which you can view here. Now, come see his alternate designs for War Machine and Mark 42 armor. As you can see with his first War Machine design below, not all was scrapped. His helmet and side intakes were incorporated into Ryan Meinerding's final design.

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce. The film opened in theaters May 3, 2013. It stars: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes), and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

Both Mark 42 designs look better than the finished product, as 4 War Machine, he wasn't even really in the movie so was there any point to designing him?

Avengers-- 9 out of 10
IM3-3 out of 10.. dont care to ever see it again. the twist was so assinine i cant imagine how so many people in the production process bougt off on it. Stan lee must have been high as [frick] on PCP and Viagra to sign off on it. Ruined the mandarin which could have been the best adversary to the series. so much for fing fang foom.
MOS- 9 out of 10
The wolverine- still to be watched.

Seems that concept art is far superior to final armor for both Tony & War Machine.
Weak armors in a weak film.

I'm convinced that Ultron in Avengers 2 will be Tony's 'ultimate armor', designed to beat all the other Avengers, becoming 'self-aware' and running amok.

The more I see those helmet designs the more they are starting to look like Ultron...

i love the second war machine armour and the 1st alternate mark 42, to bad they didnt use these. i wish people would stop bitching about iron man 3 it's getting really old watching every thread remotely related to iron man turning into a iron man 3 bashing thread, we get it you didnt like the film get over it.

Thank god you are not in charge at Marvel, some of you guys have ideas that would drive the CBM industry into the grave with just two or three movies... Fin Fang Foom, really ? How would you ever see that working on the big screen ?

don't care much for Iron man 3 and Man of Steel left me whelmed. Every cbm i've since this year has left me caring less and less for their 2015 follow ups, or maybe i'm just out growing all this?

After watching that mountain of shit known as Iron Turd 3. I still don't get why they redesigned War Machine into the Iron Patriot, when Rhodey rarely used it for anything except saving the president.

it does not matter what suit or design they would have use on this movie this movie was GOD AWFUL,Dreadful - Horrible ,frightful, dire I never thought that they could get any worst then part two I was sooooo wrong. It was like a bad episode of Heroes or Alphas OH MY GOD..pause... breathe.. Ok my rant is over lol

That first one looks like War Machine has bell bottoms, coming straight from the disco

The second one was incredible. We need that in future Marvel films.
