When the best thing you can say about this movie so far is that Karl Urban won't take off his helmet in the movie, that is saying too much. Like all comic book movies I want this to do extremely well, but so far for a movie that began filming all the way back in 2010 we sure haven't seen much. How in the world are we now in 2012 and we don't have any footage from this movie? Add in the fact that this movie was filmed in 3D, but on a shoestring budget of $45 million and I'm not feeling very confident.

What little we know is that Judge Dredd's home of Megacity will be a much darker and grittier locale than what we saw in the 1995 Sylvester Stallone version. And the heart of the story is Dredd training a rookie, Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) and seeing if she has what it takes to make it in their futuristic world.

Synopsis - DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.

Dredd will hit theaters September 21st, 2012

Some of these abuse reporters need to chill out. Yossarian's comment is whining? Seriously? Grow some skin people.

My concern about this film is that the few images we have seen don't look that futuristic and I still miss seeing the signature Dredd chin. Urban's chin just doesn't hack it and that is the dominant feature we should see for Dredd being he wears the helmet the whole time.

@mothman

are u f**king serious, cause the budget is low the movie wont be good. what a silly thing to say to be honest. the old classic sci-fi movies like Aliens, The Terminator, Predator, etc was lower budget movies and they become cult classic.

also sci-fi film during modern times who had low budget also become cult classic Pitch Black, District 9, Serenity, etc. so budget dont mean nothing only the director and screen writer vision makes a good movie.

Since when did a budget make a movie? One of the all time favorites is Blade Runner which was made with 28 Million and despite the low take a the box as jazzman said became a cult classic. Heck the original Star Wars was made on 11 million and has made over 700 million. Give it a chance before dismissing it as crap!

stallone didnt suck ......and karl urban will do good .........budget isnt that big of deal if the story and the action scenes are well done and played out.....i mean maybe they didnt use as much cgi in this film is why it doesnt have that big a budget ....there have been plenty of action films that were awesome without cgi..............lets give it a chance and i think Ghost rider 2 will actually make up for the first.........especially with the looks of a good story line.........i think all the sequels look like they got the hang of it....GI JOE looks more too its roots...wrath of the titans looks amazing ....i mean we will have to wait and seee i suppose

Sometimes its good that filmmakers take time to make movie.
It doesnt necessarily mean that they are [frick]ing things up.

Looks pretty nice. And low budget obviously isn't an indication that the movie will rightly suck; it may won't be up there with the 'big' CBMs of 2012 either, but this can be good enough. I can't wait to see more.

been a big fan for years and really want some solid info about this movie. the thing that concerns me is the lack of info from 200ad,the comic that publishes dredd. are they trying to distance themselves from it in case we get another stallone let down? or are they just playing it cool cos they know the material is good?

good points instant justice!
still really annoying though when you loyally buy a comic for years and can only get pics and info from other sources, ie buying empire.
