Dredd has been getting some very positive feedback from its Comic-Con screening, and Lionsgate have decided to give those that were unable to attend a taste of the action by releasing the below clip just as it debuts at the Con..

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson, a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan's inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound's control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

This film looks like it's gonna utilise 3D the wayit should be utilised.
Secretly the hottest film of the year.

The gore is true to the comic book. It has a heightened comic book feel to it. The thing that struck me was the set dressing. Looked a bit cheapish. Peach Trees isn't going to look that high tech.

I think the look of the film, in terms of how big budget they're trying to make it, could disappoint some fans. The slo-mo visuals look cool but the vehicles are modern, the streets are modern, the rooms look a bit cheap budget. I dunno... looks a bit cheapy cheapy to me. Hopefully some true scale will be conveyed. The block is huge so there's hope that will come across on the screen.

I still feel the Judge Minty fan film was the way to do this film. Perhaps not the entire film done like that because it would break the film's budget but with much more emphasis on MC-1 looking futuristic.

The slo-mo is there because it's a part of the plot, it's plot just there to be there! I'm really not sure why it bothers people anyway, it's just one type of filming style.. how come people don't wail when they see jump cuts, crash zooms, shaky cam, dutch angles etc!

The slo-mo should make the film stand out from other action films. And the violence too. Even if the slow-mo and ultra-gore are a bit gimmicky it should help people to remember Dredd and it could help get people to see it.

Not my type of film at all. I saw a review for it today that was decent, just not at all my type of movie.

Aside from the set dressing which looks a bit like Mega-City Cheap than Mega-City 1, :P it did have the vibe of the comic strip. I got a bit of a Watchmen type vibe from the slo-mo and I loved the Watchmen adaptation. :)

That shot of the guy getting pierced by a bullet in the mouth would be a good "Shut Up!" gif.

You should see the scene when Dredd has to do a wee wee. Slo-mo urination is a thing of great beauty.
