Mark Simpson, better known by the pen name Jock, is a British comics artist, most known for his work with Andy Diggle in 2000 AD and on The Losers. Jock has posted some of his own Dredd artwork for the adaption online already.

The movie is set up with DNA Films and Fox Searchlight. Producer is Allon Reich who did (28 Weeks Later) and his partner in crime Alex Garland too is writing the film.

This is what Jock wrote on Twitter:

"then a DREDD movie meeting with DNA in london on monday. really glad not to be missing this weekend."

No director as yet has been confirmed for the comic book project. Maybe after the monday we'll have much more news.

LEEE777 - Can't wait. As much as the Stallone nineties movie was messed up, I still loved it, but it's time to get a true Dredd movie out there for the masses.

I know i'd personally would like a UNKNOWN for the part of DREDD, but if they did get a KNOWN NAME, it's gotta be GERARD BUTLER, well as long as he keeps the helmet on at all times, as in all times start to finish!

He''s got the chin lol! ; )

"I am....the luh!"

Cool news. A proper Judge Dredd movie would kick ass.

The Stallone Dredd movie is bad, cliched, and over-acted, but it has some charm that makes it entertaining to watch. It's odd.

Shaman: Dude, Clive Owen or Gerard Butler would totally kick ass!

Ryan Reynolds or Sam Worthington for Dredd!

Figured I'd throw in all of the other popular names.

Honestly, I agree with LEEE. Butler is a solid choice for being the law...

Thanks Leee for the update.
Have been giving this some thought and regardless of who dons the helmet (my pick is still Statham), its all going to depend on the storyline and keeping to the Dredd mythos.
Storyline- Judge Death's first appearence, captured by Dredd and Anderson. Death released by the other three Dark Judges. Battle between Dark Judges and Mega City's finest. Dark Judges followed their dimension and laid to rest (or are they?). Bing, bang, boom- great story, and straight from the comic- the perfect story board.
And pepper it with the quirky life in Mega-City One. Have the city blocks named after celebrities, politicians, what have you (just like the comic). Introduce powerboarders, futsies, fatties... that world is just ripe for the picking for extra "unrelated to the main plot" scenes.
Introduce Dredd to the audience as easy as this- Drug deal going down in a seedy part of town, Dredd pulls up, takes down both the perps after some Lawmaster and Lawgiver action, and arrest them for possession of an illegal substance- sugar (ya know the whole "white powder" conceptual switcheroo). Simple but done Dredd-style- great!

SYNESTRO @ No worries man!!! ; )

Hey STATHAM would be good!!

Damn, i can see your a big DREDD fan dude! Im totally with ya on the JUDGE DEATH, DARK JUDGES storyline with ANDERSON.

Infact when they was planning two DREDD movies back 2 back that was going to be one of them, so hopefully it still is, we can get a real DREDD movie then!
