The same day Zack Snyder's Justice League hit HBO Max, a remastered version of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also arrived on the streaming platform.
Now, it's also available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and Warner Bros. has released a ten-minute preview clip. As you can see, this version of the "Ultimate Edition" will also be presented in the 4:3 format (something that's proved to be somewhat controversial since the Snyder Cut was released).
Talking to MTV News, Snyder explained why he chose to call this version of Batman v Superman the "Ultimate Edition" rather than a Director's Cut.
"The [Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition], like, my director's cut of [Batman v Superman] - which, at the time, they wouldn't let me call a director's cut because they didn't want people to think the theatrical version wasn't my version - that version of the movie drove I think like 75 percent of the DVD purchases of the movie."
"[It's] a thing that wouldn't exist unless I said 'Hey guys, let's make this, do this version of the movie," Snyder concluded.
It really does sound like Snyder has been battling Warner Bros. since day one, but that's not expected to be an issue moving forward (the filmmaker has said he can't imagine a return to the DC Universe down the line).
