BIG Villain For WB's JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Revealed?

Certainly a perfect counter to Marvel's The Avengers sequel's rumored villain, the latest rumor for DC's Justice League movie may have revealed what godly villain will challenge the super-team.

After revealing many big Marvel movie scoops in the past year or so, the folks from Latino Review have landed another one. However, this time it's in regards to a long-awaited adaptation from Disney/Marvel's rival studio, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. Despite WB having yet to formally announce the Justice League movie, there's been a lot of buzz surrounding its development.

And now reputable sources of Latino Review have it on good authority that Justice League will be villainized by the “supreme monarch of the planet Apokolips and the greatest threat to the DC Universe,” as LR notes. If you haven't already guessed it, the DC superhero ensemble will brawl with none other than Darkseid. More about the Godly character's background, via Wikia, Darkseid is the ruler of Apokolips and Darkseid's Elite and was a major player in the cosmic war that was the Final Crisis. Darkseid first appeared in Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #134, created by Jack Kirby.

Darkseid was also influence for Writer-artist Jim Starlin's Mad Titan Thanos, who (also first revealed by Latino Review) made his brief cinematic debut during Marvel's The Avengers stinger and is rumored for a full-fledge appearance in the sequel. And if reports of Warner Bros. aiming Justice League for theaters in 2015 are accurate, we'll see both villains in action that summer.

Reportedly following Zack Snyder's Man of Steel ‘Superman’ reboot on WB's DC Comics slate, Justice League is being penned by Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall. And LR further reports that a director is still being sought-after and filming should start next year. What do you think?

Thought it would be, let's face it if was an army invasion be compared to Avengers 1, with Darkseid have obviously compared to Avengers 2.

Fact is with a good script, this film will stand on its own, but that's the big question: What is the script like.

Maybe Darkseid cameo at the end of MoS

You posted that quick!

Anyway, I really hope the film follows somewhat The New 52 Justice League. It would be awesome to see that fleshed out on film. We will miss Jonn but Cyborg is a bit more believable anyway and having Martian Manhunter on the team in the film would be overkill.

There's nothing to get over JDUKE. If this is true, this would be just a blatant attempt of competing with Thanos being in THE AVENGERS sequel. It's the intentions that make it sad.

Won't believe it till I see it on the silver screen. A JLA film has been in the works since god knows when, and its been all "rumors" and bullshit.

As much as I want a JLA film, I take any of these "rumors" with a grain of salt. I'm not getting my hopes up.

@SageMode well apparently the intentions of using Darkseid makes you sad. Get over it.

Darkseid would be an awesome villain for the Justice League to fight. I don't care if Thanos is being used as the build-up villain for Avengers, that will be awesome to see, but I don't want that to be a reason we don't ever see Darkseid on the big-screen.

Way too soon. We need the Legion of Doom to get settled in. But they just HAD to compete with the Avengers. No way in hell it's gonna do better. Way to rushed.

i love dark side! i even think he is better then thanks ( comming from a marvel fan) but this feels very forced :/ just to keep up with marvel :/ they should really build him up, darkside is too great of a character to be the 1st, he needs to be build up more devoplment so when he does come out in the movie it will really revolve around him instead of the team

I like Darkseid but he is incredibly overused.

Personally, I would love to see Vandal Savage as the main villain in a JL film.

Good God DC.

Don't just throw this shit together. Make a good cohesive universe. If you're just gonna shit on your franchise, then I'll hand you some TP. Putting DC characters in a movie that no one in the public has heard of, gives a shit about will be awful for you.

And before anyone attacks me, I am a DC fan. I constantly read the new 52 comics, only certain ones, some have been dropped. But this movie has so much [frick]ing potential. No DC fan should want them to rush this.I mean you can't just throw shit at the screen and call it JL.

Oh wait yes you can....
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 12/2/2012, 11:42 PM
@Slagg he would be ok, but since they're starting off with this, they have to pull the audience in, so they have to go with a big time super-being villain guy like Darkseid.

Definitely awesome, if true. I just hope they do the character right. Sounds like a hell of a balancing act with elements that big. I'm not a huge fan of the character from the Animated Series, I can't really complain about this. Although, he might be too for this film. Especially if they show Apokolips and the armies.

Oh, and I think The Wachowskis or Guillermo del Toro is ready to sign the papers to direct. More so to The Wachowskis. If the script is good, you can count on them to bring the visuals. Which is what this film needs - The Matrix has moments that would turn out ridiculous if in the hands of another director. They'll make the flying and comic book-y superpowers work.

I think we have to face it that Darkseid is being used so early to compete with The Avengers 2 because they could have easily built up to him like use injustice league, braniac then darkseid to finish big. To me that makes more sense, but because they want to compete with Marvel's money they care going to Darkseid.

I wonder how much of the decision to use Darkseid was DC's and how much was WB's. Either way it's going to be nice to look at, but with them already rushing the film and IN MY OPINION foolishly using Darkseid too early it will not be as great as it could be.

TheTrueAvenger - 12/2/2012, 11:45 PM
Darkseid would be great to see, but ...

1) Is this movie even in development
2) You go big with Darkseid, how do you go bigger in the sequel ???

...other than that I would love to see him on screen. I'm a Marvel guy, but really respect the JLA and think WB needs to put somebody in charge of the development of these movies ( like Marvel: Kevin Feige, and Fox: Mark Millar) .

JDUKES

Yeah, WB/DC's plan on trying to cash grab on THE AVENGERS' success is sad and pathetic and it just bleeds desperation, take the DC Sunglasses off. Face the facts.

LinkHall
LinkHall - 12/2/2012, 11:49 PM
I mean let's face it. If they try to set this us as a trilogy would it be cool to use the biggest villain first. I mean what if the fellowship in LOTR reached Minas Tirith in the first film. Minas Tirith to the black gate would be in two films and wouldn't be as exciting. Using Darkseid is just going too big too soon. I most def want to see him, but not yet I want the suspense to be built. They may not want to directly copy Avengers, but no denying it worked they can take notes from Marvel and not copy at the same time...just saying

Love Darkseid as much as Thanos maybe even a little more. He would be cool to see in the JLA movie but yeah what happens in the sequal? I think they should just do what Avengers did, show Darkseid at the end of the credits.
