So yesterday I showed y'all my list for who should be there when the DCCU Justice League forms. Below entails who should play these ageless characters plus the addition of two more heroes should show up later on in the franchise.
1. Batfleck
Ever since Ben Affleck was cast as the Caped Crusader it has been a hot topic of discussion. Everybody, myself included, was just about ready to kill Zack Snyder, and then he post the first official picture of Batman. Instantly everybody's tune changed to that of praise for Snyder, saying this was the best Batman ever. While I do agree he has the coolest suit and arguably the coolest Batmobile, I don't think I'm ready to say he will be the best Batman ever. There are still things to consider, mostly how he sounds as Batman, which is the biggest thing for me, because I just can't see Ben Affleck's voice coming out of this Batman, nor can I hear the ridiculous Bale growl. I do, however, believe that we will all leave the theater wondering how we ever doubted Snyder, and counting the days till Batfleck's glorious return in Justice League.
2. Cav-El
While many people argue about
Man Of Steel (my favorite movie), there is no denying that Henry Cavill IS Superman. He looks just like the Blue Boyscout, with the chiseled facial features and the massive build. I do think his Superman could use some more characterization, but I feel like he played the perfect Superman with what he was given. His suit is also arguably the coolest reinvention of the suit, though it could use a red design as a nod to the comics. He will only continue to grow into the character the more he plays him. I believe, and I don't mean to start a war with this, that by the time Justice League comes around he will have replaced Christopher Reeves as the best live-action Superman.
4. Wonder Woman- Gal Gadot
This was another casting that caused people to want Zack Snyder's head (except for Mantinium, who wanted other things from Snyder). People said that Gal Gadot was way to skinny to be portraying the most iconic feamle superhero in comics. They might have been right when she was cast, but now she has packed on some muscle and is much more toned. While most wanted a Wonder Woman played by Gina Carano, or someone with her body type, I think Gal is more like Wonder Woman than most believe. We want a Wonder Woman who looks like she could take on hordes of villains and still look stunning. Gal is extremely beautiful, but as can be seen above, looks like she is ready to take someone's head off. Another complaint is that she doesn't have the acting skills to portray the Amazonian Princess. I don't see how they are able to come to this conclusion based on her small part in the Fast and Furious franchise, but based on the fact that she was cast as the lead in the movie
Triple NineI, speaks volumes for her acting ability as that movie has a cast full of stars. While I think she is gonna be a wonderful (pun intended) Wonder Woman, we will not be able to tell until Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
4. Hal Jordan- Chris Pine
Let me start by saying I love Chris Pine (almost as much as Gusto loves banana hammocks). He is one of my favorite actors and I think he would be perfect for the role of Hal Jordan. He physically looks the part and has the acting ability to portray the ideal Hal Jordan. I think you only need to look as far as his role as Captain Kirk to see how he excels at portraying a very arrogant character who has to accept an overwhelmingly large amount of responsibility. Also, Pine was already rumored for the role back before Ryan Reynolds was chosen to portray the character in the Movie That Shall Not Be Named.
5. Barry Allen- Ryan Gosling
Ryan Gosling had long been fan-casted to play the Scarlet Speedster. He has the perfect look, lean with matching facial features. Though Gosling is taking a break from acting, I think if you throw enough money at him he will take the role. However, with his girlfriend Eva Mendes recently giving birth to a baby girl, it might be a little harder to get Gosling to play the Fastest Man Alive, a role that would require a lot of time. I think that if Warner Bros. could somehow manage to get ahold of Gosling it would be a role we would never forget.
6. Aquaman- Jason Momoa
Jason Momoa had long been rumored to play the King Of Atlantis. While many say that he just would not be a good choice because he does not resemble the blonde hair blue eyed Arthur, I think he is the perfect choice. Momoa was born in Hawaii, and has grown up around the ocean. I do think it would be cool if he dyed his hair to match the comics. Momoa is a very physical presence standing at 6'4" and would make Aquaman be a very intimidating hero. Also, who better to get rid of the stigma asscociated with Aquaman than having the man that played Khal Drogo?
7. Cyborg- Ray Fisher
Ray Fisher was recently cast as Cyborg. While virtually an unknown, his casting was met with a positive response, something that Warner Bros. hadn't seen in a while. I don't know much about Fisher, other than him sharing the name with a football player, but the word is that he is a very god stage actor. He is a physical match for Vic Stone, something that led to the well reaction to his casting. I hope he does good, but as I've never seen him in anything I will reserve my judgement until seeing him in the role.
8. Martian Manhunter- Benedict Cumberbatch
With the recent rumors of his invovement in
Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, I got to thinking about the famous Brit as the Martian Manhunter. The more I thought about it the more I liked it. I like Benedict about as much as I like Pine, but for a different reason. His style of acting is one that is rarely seen, instead of trying to connect with the the roles around him he tries to isolate himself from them. For example, if you have seen
Sherlock you know what I am talking about. This role shows just how well he could play Martian Manhunter, as the last of his race who feels rejected by mankind. Also, while only 6'0" his roles still feel like he is very tall. Just watch his role as Khan, he manages to portray an intimidating man who is also very intelligent, some of the characteristics that define MM. I know this casting would not sit well with mose but I think he would bring a truly interesting take on the character that would make this character stand out in the crowd.
Honorary Mention: Shazam- Joe Manganiello
While I don't believe Shazam will be in the first Justice League movie, I think he will show up later down the road. With the announcement that the Rock will be playing Black Adam in the Shazam movie I got to thinking about who should play Shazam. Instantly Joe Manganiello popped into my mind, while not as thick as the Rock, he is an inch taller and would be a very physical threat to the Rock. Not only that, but Manganiello does humor, specifically dry humor, very well, which is a trait needed to play Shazam. Also, it would be very cool to see the man that almost played Superman play Shazam, who was acquired by DC for being to much like Superman.
Honorary Honorary Mention: Green Arrow- Charlie Hunnam
Many people told me that they think Green Arrow should show up in the second movie, so I went ahead and casted him as well. While I think Stephen Amell plays a fine Green Arrow, I don't think you can have the Justice League and not have Green Arrow show up at some point, and who better to play him than Charlie Hunnam. I mean just look at that Van Dyne beard! Isn't it glorious?!? He looks just like Oliver and I think he is the best choice to play Green Arrow on the silver-screen.
Honorary Honorary Mention Part 2: Black Canary- January Jones
You just can't have Green Arrow without Black Canary, so I got to thinking. I immediately thought of January Jones, who is physically a close match to Black Canary and is extremely hot. She showed she is fine with playing superheroes when she played Emma Frost. I know she is not the top choice for Black Canary, but I think she would be perfect. Also, this would keep the cast from being a sausage-fest.
So that is my list. Comment if you agree or disagree. Thanks for reading!
