In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Lex Luthor succeeded in killing the Man of Steel after unleashing Doomsday. To make him pay for his crimes, the Caped Crusader had the villain placed within the confines of Arkham Asylum and it's since been confirmed that Jesse Eisenberg would reprise the role in the ensemble (something which made sense as he was the one who found Steppenwolf).
Since then, we've seen a storyboard which indicated that Lex would have something to do with Deathstroke and it's widely believed that he would use Slade Wilson to help him escape before hiring the assassin to go after the hero in Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns' scrapped version of The Batman.
Well, as you can see below, it seems Joss Whedon has completely cut Lex from the current version of Justice League. We were already aware that Darkseid's role has been trimmed down but taking this classic Superman villain out of proceedings is bound to change the plot in a significant way and leaves the villain's fate very much up in the air. Will he be referenced in the movie now he's no longer in it?
That remains to be seen but Eisenberg previously confirmed that he'll appear in Justice League so it will be interesting seeing what happens next. What do you guys think? Let us know in the usual place.
