According to del Toro, "he, DC Entertainment and WB are seeing eye-to-eye", regarding his Justice League Dark film, which is currently in script stage. The film will center on the supernatural heroes of DC Comics, who come together to form their own team to combat foes that would typically be out of the league (no pun intended) of the traditional Justice League. For context, it's similar to how the Guardians of the Galaxy fight cosmic threats, whereas The Avengers handle Earthly foes; only the JLD are supernatural instead of cosmic based.
Regarding the film, del Toro runs down the roster of Justice League Dark, listing "
Etrigan the Demon, Deadman, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Constantine, The Floronic Man, and many, many others." And in terms of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment keeping their film and tv ventures separate, del Toro reaffirmed that's the course currently being charted, however, he stated,
"I would love to have The Spectre in it, because he's one of the most..absolutely, beyond moral characters in this universe and he does crazy things...but, I'm happy with...they're doing that with Constantine. What I made clear to them is that the tv series will not effect the movie and they said that's okay. They said you can have independence. Now, if we see the tv series and we can mesh with it or cast the same actor depending on where the movie is going, I would be happy to consider that." In the video below, you can also see del Toro talk about the script and treatment process for Justice League Dark.
Justice League Dark talk starts at the 9:00 minute mark.
