Guillermo del Toro On Using NBC's CONSTANTINE In JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK

Director Guillermo del Toro speaks on using Matt Ryan - "..if we see the tv series and we can mesh with it or cast the same actor depending on where the movie is going, I would be happy to consider that."

According to del Toro, "he, DC Entertainment and WB are seeing eye-to-eye", regarding his Justice League Dark film, which is currently in script stage. The film will center on the supernatural heroes of DC Comics, who come together to form their own team to combat foes that would typically be out of the league (no pun intended) of the traditional Justice League. For context, it's similar to how the Guardians of the Galaxy fight cosmic threats, whereas The Avengers handle Earthly foes; only the JLD are supernatural instead of cosmic based.

Regarding the film, del Toro runs down the roster of Justice League Dark, listing "Etrigan the Demon, Deadman, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Constantine, The Floronic Man, and many, many others." And in terms of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment keeping their film and tv ventures separate, del Toro reaffirmed that's the course currently being charted, however, he stated,"I would love to have The Spectre in it, because he's one of the most..absolutely, beyond moral characters in this universe and he does crazy things...but, I'm happy with...they're doing that with Constantine. What I made clear to them is that the tv series will not effect the movie and they said that's okay. They said you can have independence. Now, if we see the tv series and we can mesh with it or cast the same actor depending on where the movie is going, I would be happy to consider that." In the video below, you can also see del Toro talk about the script and treatment process for Justice League Dark.

Justice League Dark talk starts at the 9:00 minute mark.

Really hope this movie is on that Warner bros list,if Del Toro is working on it now then it could be a 2017/2018 movie

I would much rather see this in 2017 than Pacific Rim 2, although I'm really looking forward to that as well, he just has too many damn projects!

Please don't let Guillermo work on any other project and have him focus solely on Justice League Dark. I love his works, but damn does he work on a lot of projects!

I will sacrifice my firstborn if this project happens. [frick] Pacific Rim 2 (even though I enjoyed the first one).

Yeah, I'd love to see this actually happen!
Even though probably 80% of what Del Toro says he's working on doesn't actually get made, he's a very busy guy. But JL Dark could be so interesting on the big screen.

This shit won't happen. Del Torro is the biggest shit talker in the business. He has way to many projects to handle at this point a JLD will go the same route of Hellboy 3.

As much as I would've loved for Warner Bros. to establish characters off television to set up for their movies, it's better off with them being their own separate things. Arrow is awesome, The Flash's pilot was awesome, and Constantine (despite the "no smoking" bs) looks to be awesome too. It's just hard to see them being in the cinematic universe from the way they're written on television. Idk, least that's my opinion over this whole thing.

Why would Floronic Man be on the team? He's a villain and his powers overlap with Swamp Thing's.

I'm okay with the Constantine universe being apart of the movie universe. Not really anything else.

Floronic Man is in the movie but not in the team. I hope he includes Spectre and Phantom Stranger.

As long as WB doesn't drop the ball on BvS, this film will happen.

With or without Del Toro, WB would be stupid not to introduce this team. They are arguably more entertaining than the by-the-books Justice League proper.

Basically, this is DCs Guardians. If there's a shared DCCU, JL Dark will eventually be part of it.

I'm guessing a release date of 2018/2019/2020.

GDT is one of the coolest directors out there.

A true geek auteur.

I swear I'll stop eating chocolate if we get him to do a DCCU movie.

The TV Constantine and JL Dark won't mesh.

I said it wouldn't happen with Arrow/Flash (tho anyone with half a brain could tell you that) and I'm saying it now.

I personally don't want this to happen. This way there's more options on how to make the movie & tv show. Also if they use the tv version it won't be apart of the DCCU. I want to see the JLD having a team up with the main JL team down the road. Also as much as I liked the pilot of Constantine his name is said wrong in the show. They called him Constanteen instead of Constantine. John has said in the comics "Its tine as in fine". So it would be nice to have him being called by the right name instead.

Plus if they make JLD apart of Constantine it will be weird seeing the better effects in the movie. Then going back to the tvs way of doing things.
