Guillermo del Toro to Direct Justice League Dark Movie After All?

Well, it's apparently still in the mix of DC properties ready to get the big screen treatment. See what the director had to say...

Earlier this week, Guillermo del Toro confirmed a sequel for his 2013 movie, Pacific Rim, as well as an animated series to go along with the "franchise". He also mentioned other later projects he planned on working on, including Justice League Dark.

As of late 2012, del Toro began work on Justice League Dark, giving it the working title of “Dark Universe” in January 2013. From then, he has continued work on the project, stating he would finish it after promoting his other movies, such as Pacific Rim and Crimson Peak. However, Del Toro then stated that he was still waiting for approval for the movie from DC and Warner Bros.

Del Toro has also expressed interest in connecting the new nbc show Constantine to JLD, as he had intended for the character to appear in his movie before the show was announced, stating:
“We talked about it at DC and Warners, and I feel confident that the two properties can exist at the same time. I think that DC is trying to create a great universe of characters, and expand it and make it clear to the audience that it’s a landscape of characters, and not just one that’s dependent on one or two characters.”

From then, however, DC has announced its other properties getting the live-action treatment to expand its "DCU", including the sequel to Man of Steel, 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and also Shazam! So along with his Pacific Rim announcement, del Toro stated that he would finish up JLD after his 2015 movie, Crimson Peak.

What do you think? Do you believe the future of this movie is still bleak? Comment below.

Swamp Thing deserves his own movie, he's boss as hell. Last issue when he totally put Aquaman in his place was da-shiz

I love the smell of bullshit in the morning.

Even though I'm not familiar with JL Dark, I'd still see the movie though.

I hope that this reinvigorates his interest in Hellboy 3 and that the studio that's suppose to give it the go also sees the potential!

But on topic, if this and the other movie rumors happens to be true. Then damn, WB/DC is going all out and hoping to get a home run!

AlphaMaster - Honestly I believe that we'll never see At The Mount of Madness. Which is rather unfortunate, because I was hoping to see how good ole' del Toro was going to bring everything to life!

I think it can come out in 2018. The reason why I say that is because the rumor is Man of Steel 2 comes out that year. So right now that leaves room for two more movies. Justice League: Dark can be the big movie for Christmas. If Pacific Rim 2 comes out in 2017 that gives Guillermo time to make JLD for 2018. But if it's also quicker then Guillermo can make the film then 2019 will work. But I would like 2018 more. I personally want a JLD movie over the main JL.

I've always liked Zatanna.

Anyway, at least there is a normal Justice League film confirmed now. Before, anytime this del Toro JL Dark project came up in rumors, it seems a little absurd considering that the main JL wasn't even there itself.

If Dark Universe aka Justice League Dark gets release after Justice League, I can't see Warner Bros. actually naming the movie Justice League Dark now.
