JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Gal Gadot Confirms That WONDER WOMAN Was Retconned After BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice made it pretty clear that Wonder Woman chose to stop being mankind's hero for a number of years, but that didn't gel with what we witnessed in Diana's solo adventure...

In Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's revealed that Diana had all-but given up on humanity and only decides to enter the fray after careful consideration. However, the ending of Wonder Woman suggested that the character had accepted her destiny and was fulfilling the role of hero and protector.

So, the sequel will explain why Diana chooses to knock the superhero gig on the head then... right? Well, not according to Gal Gadot:

"We realized that actually, there is no way that Wonder Woman will ever give up on mankind. The reason why she left the island was because she wanted to make their life better and safer – they are her calling. So – I’m giving you a very honest answer – sometimes, in a creative process, you establish something that is not necessarily the right decision, but then you can always correct it and change it. So Wonder Woman will always be there as far as she concerns for mankind.”

A lot of fans figured this was the case, as it does make a lot more sense and is in-keeping with the character. Maybe we can just pretend that Diana was in a really bad mood for a few... umm, decades when we first met her in Batman V Superman?

Be sure to let us know what you make of this in the usual place. Justice League will be with us next month.

Can we retcon pretty much all of it?

Geoff Johns and Whedon are trying! It's kind of hard to explain how Batman goes from a murderous killer to sunshine and daises just because a guy he doesn't really know died. Plenty of other men died fighting Doomsday too. If anything, Superman's death proved BatPunisher's point that all the good people go away. Snyder just does things because he thinks it's cool and then other writers have to fix the mess. Not sure how you can fix Jimmy Olsen and other characters though.

@Griela - David Ayer and Chris Terrio wrote the script, but apparently it's Zack's fault?

Nobody died fighting Doomsday other than Superman. Stryker's Island was uninhabited.

Also, Superman's death showed just how HUMAN this alien was to Bruce. The fact that an all powerful "god" could be so GOOD, let alone die for Earth, inspired Bruce to be the man he once was for the past 20 years. The man he strayed from throughout this film.

Lex Luthor believes God cannot be all good and all powerful: surprise, in BvS, Superman can be.

@bangarangrufio - in the film they refer to the island as abandoned. You really think no homeless people ended up over there over the years?
