Kevin Feige Believes The Solution To Warner Bros.' DCEU Woes Lies With Richard Donner's SUPERMAN

Justice League was a colossal failure for Warner Bros. last November and the studio is now scrambling to set things right with movies like Aquaman and Shazam!. As things currently stand, the DC Extended Universe's future is definitely starting to look up but when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was recently asked to provide some advice to the competition, he made some pretty interesting points.

"I always hesitate to come off as the person who is bestowing advice on people," he said, choosing his words very carefully. "It's not really what I do. What I do know is, they're great characters."

"They're great characters," he continued, "they're good comics, they've got great history. I'm not shy about saying, Richard Donner’s Superman I still think is the paradigm by which we all still should follow. It's all there." That's great advice and seemingly exactly what Warner Bros. is doing now by lightening up the tone of its movies and taking a different approach to the way they're portrayed.

What do you think about Feige's remarks? As always, let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Great advice. Let's start by getting to work on a goddamn Man of Steel sequel with Cavill returning and J.A. Bayona directing!

@MUTO123 - The solution is one:

WB/DC: HIRE KEVIN FEIGE

"Its all there". Warner Bros and DC have the rights to all of their characters but don't want to take the time in building a substantial and well established cinematic universe.

The DC films have much bigger problems than trying to follow a film from 40 years ago. They can't even cast correctly, IMO.

That being said, I'm excited about Aquaman. Everything I've seen from it looks pretty great so far.

@L0RDbuckethead - Casting has definitely been one of my issues with the DCEU. Henry Cavill is alright, but Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot (yes, her too as much as she does well enough under Patty's direction only), Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Jessie Eisenberg, Joe Mangallieno (hope I didn't butcher his last name), Will Smith and so on have been miscast in their roles in my opinion. The best they've done so far have been side characters like Steve Trevor, Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller.

Aquaman's definitely gonna rock, but I'm starting to feel like the good movies we've had from WB and DC have been because of the directors who have the passion and the talent, not because the studio actually gets these characters.

@BlindWedjat - Come to think of it, the only main actor i have felt invested in and enjoyed time with was probably chris pine (maybe gal aswell) Why oh why was he not casted as green lantern?

The characters are great, and there are a long list of great comics to choose from. It's all about the execution.
