So with
Avengers making skyscrapers of cash, Warner Bros. is aiming to duplicate that success with a potential
Justice League movie sometime in the near future. At the moment, they’re hoping to shortcut straight to the big team-up and launch the solo films after, sorta kinda the opposite of Marvel’s approach.
But suppose it doesn’t come together in a timely manner? JL might need more time to stew than the current projections would allow if they want it to be awesome. It’s a lot of pressure to put on one movie.
I’m proposing here a way to give
Justice League the time and attention it needs while keeping the DC brand alive on film, but
without simply copying Marvel’s every move in the process.
Step 1:
Wonder Woman
Everyone’s favorite Amazon is way overdue for the origin film treatment, and if DC puts out only one movie between
Man of Steel and
Justice League, it should be this one, especially since none of Marvel’s most notable females come close in popularity.
But if they want to take a page from Marvel, they should look at WW as DC’s answer to Thor. Her powers come from magic, she fights monsters, she hangs out with deities. If they can make it like the superb animated DTV (but 40 minutes longer), they’re set.
Step 2:
The Brave and the Bold
There are a few ways they could reboot Green Lantern, but one of the safer methods is one we don’t often see: a team-up with another hero, specifically the Flash.
All we ever get are the solo movies and the big huge Avengers-style mash-ups, but never the smaller team-ups in between. It’d be nice if DC got there first for a change. A big-screen team-up would be a great way to grant GL a soft reboot, and neither hero needs an origin movie at the moment (especially Flash IMO). Plus, there’s a lot more flexibility with the story and they can have their pick of villains.
Step 3:
World’s Finest
While we’re using team-ups to perform soft reboots, how about
Batman & Superman?
I contend that both movies (World’s Finest & JL) would make more money if they were made in the proper order.
If it’s a direct follow-up to
Man of Steel, and it’s on the road to
Justice League, then it has real momentum behind it.
