On how the Justice League movie can work.

On how the Justice League movie can work.

We've gotten news that WB still wants to make its Justice League movie, but they're going about it all wrong, heres how they can make it work.

Recently, WB has confirmed that their JLA movie plans are still up and running despite most us thinking it was dead or being held back for a while. This can come off as great news. Why? Because the Justice League is just frickin epic. Period. And this is coming from a Marvel guy, whos anxiously awaiting to see Marvel studios superhero epic, The Avengers. But WB doesn't plan on satisfying their fans. As many of this sites members have stated before, they're pretty much riding on Marvels coat-tails in making their own Superhero teamup movie, and for what reason? The moolah. To make some quick extra bucks by banking off Marvels plans, WB will be making a mediocre JLA movie, much like the failed Justice League: Mortal with its own Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, completely ignoring the contuity set in place by Nolans Bat-trilogy, Snyders Man of Steel, and Campbells Green Lantern, and its certainly pointing in the direction of fail. A movie like this takes time to make, and in investing their time and being smart, WB can make a JLA film that, dare I say, could very well be more epic than Marvel's Avengers.

DC doesn't plan on having a shared universe, and that can hurt the JLA greatly. It just doesn't make sense to establish these heroes and then pretend like they didn't happen, Especially since the other films came out one, two years before, and they're still fresh in your head. Combine these movies, and as other people have said, Campbells Green Lantern can be the first stepping stone to The JLA movie. In 2012 we have Snyder's Man of Steel which looks to be the definitive Supes of our generation, so not including him would be plain stupid. We all know Nolan is the pickiest director, and is WB's golden child (so, basically they do what he says) and hes always stated that Bats is the only hero in his universe, but c'mon things change. Convince Nolan to include his Bats and Bale will follow too, and if you think his series is too 'realistic' to fit, I mean, if Nolan could make me think Batman could be real, then he sure as hell can convince me the fantasy fits in his realm too. Especially since it seems, Ra's will be explored more in Rises, for all we know it could be the fantasy we're waiting for. These three movies could serve as the base for the JLA, making it just the beginning as the superheroes begin to lace up into one universe.

With Batman, Green Lantern, and Superman having their own established franchises, WB already has 3 members knocked down for their film. Some may argue that alot of the members of the team don't need their own solo films, and to a degree, I can agree with that argument. Member Martian Manhunter for example, while fans could probably get pumped for it, the GA would probably not fare it so well, and he can easily be established in the JLA film, or even in a film I while talk about later. But I believe there are still two other members that need to establish themselves before the movie, so that bad character developement and screen time won't end up in the final product. Wonder Woman and The Flash. Both key members of the team, who have too much backstory (and even popularity) to be introduced during the film, and have it not be a complete trainwreck. It can be argued that a Wonder Woman film can't be made, because the show will be on air when it is, but the same happened with Returns and Smallville and no one really cared, besides the Wonder Woman in the show won't be the real Wonder Woman, and we all know it will end up being nothing but pure suck. But if these movies get in production soon, we can see a 2013 date for the two (a date that I firmly believe is impossible to deliver a JLA in) and have all key members established, much like Marvel is doing now. Others such as Hawkman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Black Canary can, if at all, be introduced later or during the film, and maybe even have their own spin-off film later on.

I believe that putting it all together could still use one more piece, and that piece would be the stepping stone to the actual JLA we've all been waiting for. Before the JLA, I believe WB should make one more film with Superman and Batman meeting for the first time, a World's Finest type movie, except the events in it will establish even further the connected universe and by the end, the absolute need for a Justice League. As to what exactly happens in the movie, I'll leave that up to the writers, but I feel that to wrap it all up and start the story correctly something along the lines of this is absolutely necessary for the film, and in its own right, will be absolutely epic. It's from that point on that the film can finally be made, and where years worth of work finally pays off. Like member naterator has said in his article (Which you can find =>Here<= hope you dont mind), the JLA movie would be best if it played out like LOTR, Several films that make one collosal, Epic lore, and if it's done correctly it will be like none other, seriously the stars would probably align when the film comes out, and no other film could rival its epicness.

I hope you can agree with my statements, and I really hope that WB comes to its senses and sees what potential the JLA has if they do it right. If they really care about cash, than they should know that a quality product pays off more than a half-assed one. For now, this is goodbye, until next time, this has been Something Epic.

I agree, especially concerning the continuation and establishing.
As much as I'd love to see a JLA film, it just doesn't make sense the way that they're doing it. Why establish Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern on the big screen if they're not going to be on the JL? Also, I find it hard to believe that the JLA film will be successful when all of a sudden, they announce it to be released in 2013 when Man Of Steel and TDKR are still fresh in our minds. It's just wrong, IMO.
Concerning the part about spin offs and such, I believe Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Green Arrow are the most likely to own their respective solo films. Not sure about Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, etc.

This movie can work it just depends on who the main focus is on. I really think DC should use Martian Manhunter as the main character to lead the team. Perhaps a martian invasion and he was the scout to lead the strike but changed his view towards human. This resulting in him becoming a trader to mars and he has to now combine earths best chance against an invasion.

Nolans Batman won't be in JLA...so don't pretend.

First off, I don't really want a JLA. It could end up being an aborted project since it's in the super early stages of development.
Second, The JLA movie was never actually confirmed for 2013. That was strictly a rumor. Also we currently don't know if the 2011 Green Lantern film will be connected to the JLA movie or not. Only Nolans and Snyder's film were confirmed not to be connected to the JLA movie.
Third, this was the best editorial I have seen about how to do the JLA movie, and there has been a lot of those. Congratulations.
Fourth, one of the only good things, in my opinion, that could come out of a JLA film would be the spin-offs. I would pay a lot to see a movie about Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, and especially Hawkman.

@StrangerX: That loosly sounds like the first three episodes of the Justice League animated tv series.

@golden123-true but it makes for a great story. DC needs something for fans to look back at and say yea I would love to see that on the big screen.

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. Your absolutely right about how enough of the heroes are already set up, so why not finsih the job with Justic League movie? Not doing so would be a cop out. I think that the extra step of having a World's Finest movie would really cement things down. And if WB can convince Nolan to direct Justic League, maybe with Snyder along for the ride, then it would be perfect.

@karynPftw....I dont mind at all. Really....i couldnt have re-iterated it better than you just did. Very well written and you know???....WB would have to be blind not to see and the potential that this has.
And a moment that introduces Batman and Superman onto the same screen could simply be a cameo in either Snyders MOS or in Nolans TDKR....like that of Stark in The Incredible Hulk, and from there the first of the JLA movies could show some real screen time with the two...although you do have a point...studios are making prequels all the time so an in depth WORLDS FINEST would be just as EPIC.

I truly do believe that if there is anyone that can put JLA together properly, its Peter Jackson since he has had the appropriate experience with the LOTR. It just feels right.

I agree. I think they have enough Superman and Batman movies Forget the reboots for now. We now have Green Lantern. If they focus on making a really good Flash and Wonder Woman movie for release in say late summer/fall of 2012. They could have a Justice League movie where they introduce Martian Manhunter to bring those five together and introduce them to Aquaman ( spin off later)to face the oncoming evil DARKSIED (The real Darksied not the smoke from Smallville) for release maybe 2013/2014.
