UPDATE: Snyder Confirms: Neither His Superman Nor Chris Nolan's Batman Will Appear In The Justice League Movie

The lads over at HeyUGuys had a chance to chat to Snyder at the UK premier of Sucker Punch last night and the director made it clear that the planned Justice league movie will be "it's own thing". Updated with video and pic of Henry Cavill at the premier..

Since news broke that DC and WB were planning a Justice League movie we were all left wondering exactly how the current incarnations of the characters associated with the team would fit in, if at all.

HeyUGuys asked Zack Snyder the very question of his upcoming take on Superman..

‘It doesn’t. Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I’m doing with Superman, what they’ll do with Justice League will be it’s own thing with it’s own Batman and own Superman. We’ll be over here with our movie and they kinda get to do it twice which is kinda cool’

Kinda cool, but also kinda not. This probably means the same for Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern. This Justice League movie sounds just like an updated version of the last one(Justice League: Mortal) that was planned, which would have also featured different takes on the characters. Anyway, looks like thing are as they are and we should just wait and see what these guys can deliver.

Here is a picture of our new Superman himself at the premier.

How odd. DC really should take Marvel's example by creating an amazing shared universe. Admittedly, Nolan's Batman wouldn't fit, but Green Lantern and Superman should have been the start of it! What a load of shit. Make Mine Marvel!

At this rate, Warner Bros will become the new Fox LEE! :P A standalone JLA movie will still be cool, but not creating a shared cinematic universe is a real shame and a big let down for fans!

I'm smelling some major suckage from this movie and they've only just announced it.

Starting to sound like one of the shitty knock-offs that SyFy does with no-name actors and horrible effects.

Fail!

If this is how we'll get a JLA movie, then I'm on board.Having read comics for years, I'm used to different versions of characters co-existing.Reading Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man in the same month.Brandon Routh and Tom Welling both portraying Clark Kent at the same time.Different versions of Batman appearing on Justice League/Unlimited and The Batman at the same time, as well as The Brave and the Bold and Young Justice.

I like Nolan's Batman, but I wouldn't mind seeing a different one, who is more like the comic book version.

I can see Ryan Reynolds following suit too for some reason.

They should just cast welling and make it another mediocre TV show.

You know...if they're going to reboot Batman because Nolan's take is from a separate universe, shouldn't they reboot Superman for the same reason?
To be honest, I'd rather not see a JLA film at all if this is what they're doing.

still think "nolan we trust",if you ask me he is really f*cking it up.

green lantern & superman man of steel would of been perfect to kick start the shared universe.

justice league more like justice lame.

Leave it to DC! That is just plain stupid! Next they'll announce Singer as the director too. They should just get it over with and call it Superfriends. Hey, maybe Andy Serkis can motion capture for Gleek!

Wonder Twin powers,... activate!!!

Wow, DC are like a retarded animal that keeps on touching an electrified fence, and no matter how badly they get burnt, they just never learn.

That's [frick]ing stupid. Well maybe Reynolds can be in it. If not I hope they go with Common still for John Stewart.
WellDrawn

ATTENTION DC: THERE IS NOTHING US FANBOYS HATE MORE THAN WHEN CONTINUITY IS [frick]ED WITH!!!

This seems incredibly forced, unlike Marvel's approach which feels like a very natural proggression up to Avengers.
Movie wise, it makes sense, Avengers is only 3-4 main characters, which will be tough enough, everyone fighting for screen time - Justice League would be 6-7 characters, not only fighting for screen time, but since most are being INTRODUCED in the movie each would require a huge amount of exposition in order to explain the logistics behind who they are.
I just wish they'd respect a certain amount of continuity and bring back Cavill, Reynolds, and Bale.

that is a RIDICULOUS strategy!!

how is that not confusing to cinema goer's???

it reads like they are doing it just to not be just like Marvel, even though the 'building a movie universe" franchise makes a ton of sense.

Hey it is kinda cool. They could still change their minds anyways. I'm just excited they're making a Justice League movie!

Cavill and Bale could still play Superman and Batman, they're origins won't need explaining and they don't have to call on anything in the past films. That way it isn't tied into those films. But I guess people might would assume they are connecting if the same actors play them. It should be interesting to see what DC has in store for this. :D

I hate Superman and Batman (Batman moreso), but whats the point of doin a Justice League movie if you not including the two big characters that carry that name with more weight?

DC used to be on top of the entertainment scene, but Marvel has really redeemed itself over the past couple of years. GO MARVEL! Excelsior!
BIGBMH
BIGBMH - 3/30/2011, 1:00 PM
Here's an idea DC: wait and see how well Avengers does, then try to improve on that formula. This is freakin idiotic. Please scrap this JL movie and get some people at DC's movie division who understand how awesome a shared universe can be. I thought they realized they were being stupid when they scrapped the last Justice League movie, but apparently not.

Uhh, for people saying SUPERMAN AND BATMAN WON'T BE IN THIS, YOU'RE READING IT WRONG. They're going to have their OWN VERSION of SUPERMAN AND BATMAN in the Justice League movie...

It's funny how you're all failing this, like GL. Now with newer pictures of GL you guys are liking it more. You're too quick to hate on things. Give it time, stuff like this changes quick. Look at WW's costume. They changed that pretty fast, don't ya say? :P But maybe it's a good thing you guys hate on it, because sometimes they do realize they're messing up and decide to fix it.

They should leave this justice league idea alone till they have relaunched Superman completely and done a sequel or two then expand on the character in another light!! Its confusing enough already!!
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 3/30/2011, 1:11 PM
He never says Bats and Sups won't be in the film, he simply states that his version of Sups and Nolans version of Bats will not be in the film. Everyone on the planet has seen more than one or two versions of these guys and can cope with yet another sligtly different version in the Justice League.
JWStubner
JWStubner - 3/30/2011, 1:13 PM
It's for sure a stupid idea to get different actors to play these hero's just for the sake of making a Justice League movie but on the other hand DC does feature the multiverse and alternate realities so they could make different movies with different people which could set them apart from Marvel in the film field BUT that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a stupid idea to begin with. Movie goes want stories they can invest in not random films. DC should just introduce The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Aquaman ect. individually with their own stories so people have a reason to care about them. Something tells me Warner Bros. will abandon this idea one Green Lantern, The Dark Knight Rises and The Man of Steel DESTROY at the box office.

YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS RIGHT??? IT MEANS THAT WB SHOULD JUST STOP SPENDING MONEY ON PRODUCTIONS THAT ARENT PRODUCTIVE....UNLESS THEY ARE TRYING TO GO FOR THE "NO SEQUELS" EFFECT. IT MEANS THAT WE WONT BE SEEING A THREE PICTURE DEAL FROM SNYDER ON SUPERMAN....THIS WILL BE THE ONLY FILM HE DOES....SINCE WB IS MOVING FORWARD WITH A JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE RIGHT AFTER MAN OF STEEL. THIS SUPERMAN MOVIE WILL BE A STAND ALONE MOVIE BY ITSELF WITH NO CONTINUATION SINCE ITS DOUBTFUL THAT THEY WILL KEEP TWO DC UNIVERSES GOING AT THE SAME TIME. MEANS...NO MORE GL MOVIES AFTER THIS ONE EITHER....IF THEY REALLY WANTED TO DO A PRODUCTIVE JL MOVIE THEN THEY WOULD START OFF BY INTRODUCING THE SUPER TRINITY IN MOVIES....BATMAN...DONE...SUPERMAN WILL BE DONE...NOW THEY JUST NEED A WW MOVIE TO COMPLETE THAT....THEN WE SHOULD HAVE A JL MOVIE....SOOOO IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE ALL GOING TO BE IN STORE FOR ANOTHER JL MORTAL...WITH TEENIE BOPPER ACTORS AND A SHITE SCRIPT. JUST MY OPINION. IM TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED AND AS TO NOT WALLOW IN THIS FILTHY NEWS FOR TOO LONG... I THINK I WOULD RATHER STRING MY HOPES UP TO LEEES FAITH THAT CAVILLE WILL IN DEED BE IN THE JL MOVIE AND IF ITS NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK...THEN BALE SHOULD STEP UP AND DO IT TOO....BUT IF THEY HAVE TO RE INVENT BATMAN THEN OK...BUT FREAKING DONT USE A DIFFERENT SUPERMAN...I SOMEHOW KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING...FIRST ROUTH WASNT ENOUGH...NOW CAVILL ISNT EITHER? WE WILL JUST KEEP GETTING A NEW SUPERMAN FOR EVERY MOVIE UNTIL WE THE FANS DECIDE THAT WE ARE JUST FED UP WITH CBMS... THAT I THINK IS HOW THE GENRE IS GOING TO DIE OUT,,,, NOT BECAUSE WE ARE BORED OF THEM....BUT BECAUSE THOSE THAT PRODUCE THEM CANT EVER GET IT RIGHT FOR LONG TERM ENJOYMENT. ....NATERATOR OUT!!!!!!!!
