Will Beall Signs Two Script Deal With Warner Bros.

Despite reports that Warner Bros. was less than happy with screenwriter Will Beall following a disappointing theatrical run for Gangster Squad, the studio has signed Beall to a blind two script deal. Read on for details.

A few weeks back there was a report that Will Beall's Justice League script was quote, "terrible" and that the studio was looking for new writers because the script was so bad they couldn't attract a quality director. Well, WB has just signed Beall to a blind two script deal, meaning he can write about whatever he likes and the studio will pay him, a significant sign of faith in a writer who's just starting his career. This doesn't sound like actions a dissapointed studio would take. While you can't deny that Gangster Squad underperformed, the film has currently earned $96M on a $60M production budget. Variety goes on to report that at this moment, it is unknown whether the studio will use Beall's script for Justice League. They also report that he was (possibly still is) on the shortlist of writers meeting with Universal for The Legend of Conan which will see Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the role that made him famous. More details on the Justice League film as the story unfolds.

I beg you WB don't use this guys script if you have to push it back then do it but just don't use this guys script. Gangster Squad was terrible and all those people that were clamoring for Ryan Gosling (of all the actors in the universe why him?) to play Batman do your selves a favor and don't watch the movie.

@jCameron Thanks.

@LEVITIKUZ 1. It says Beall's script is still in play. 2. It says the studio is impressed with Beall's work which would include his Justice League script. 3.) "Anything we cover"? When did you join the editorial team?

I gotta move to Hollywood, it seems good writing is hard to find out there. This guy wrote some decent tv scripts for Castle and had a freakin bomb at the theaters. IMDB (take that for what its worth) says he has 3 movies coming up but none have a release date, cast, director or started shooting. Should tell you something, this guy isn't getting the green light from anyone right now.

DC, drop him. Without MoS you would be going backwards.

As long as his script for JL gets scrapped, I don't care. WB and Beall can breed idiocy into some other movie I don't care about.

It doesn't seem to matter who they hire to write because the writer will probably have no idea how any of these characters work except for Batman because most idiot writers think Batman is the best supehero ever and everybody else sucks.

I'm gonna try to not be too quick to judge. I haven't seen any of his movies he wrote for so I can't say. I'll assume if a company wants to pay him for his services it's because he impressed them.

@LEVITIKUZ, it was stated in Variety that it was not certain whether or not Beal's Justice league script would be used once a new director was chosen. That does not mean that the script sucked, but rather a director's choice. I wish people wouldn't draw conclusions unless they really know the facts.
