the design’s not terrible but the rushed vfx made it look so bad on-screen. this and leto’s joker were by far the worst parts of the snyder cut and didn’t really add anything to the movie

@tmp3 - yup

@tmp3 - agreed. And Green Lantern didn't add anything either.

Honestly, anything added in for world-building or future pay-offs were amongst the worst parts.

@tmp3 - i honestly believe because none of that was actually in the original and he sat back and listened to all the criticism then jammed a bunch of crap in the movie and played it off as "it was there the whole time!!!" Turned into a 4 hour slomo bummer.

@CasualAF - yeah, none of it was - which makes the movie feel worse. i actually thought that all of the stuff he initially shot that was forced to be cut was significantly better than his reshoots

@tmp3 - Cut the forced crap and make it 3 hours it may have been watchable, but it all starts with the decision to kill Supes in BvS that makes it unwatchable to me. I just didnt care to watch the FIRST JL movie without Supes in it for 2/3 of the time. But its over...oh well.

Watching from the sidelines in MOS, BvS and JL. What a hero!

To be fair, if I was hiding on an alien planet and suddenly another alien threat arrives, my first move probably would not be to intervene. I'd sit back and play it smart and learn all I can until I feel the time is paramount to act.

@TheVandalore - but for 3 movies when the earth is in danger?

@TheVandalore - in regards to MM that is
TheVandalore
TheVandalore - 1/6/2023, 8:15 AM
@Arthorious - i mean... yeah.

This is a character. MM isnt Clark who was raised by the Kents and would fight for Earth. Maybe that more so than anything is the most important thing to consider.

He is an immigrant who watched his family die before him, his entire planet ravaged by White Martians. Psychologically, he could be reluctant to get involved, maybe because he fears if he is discovered on Earth, he fears it could lead the White Martians back to earth. Maybe he knew what a Kryptonian war on Earth might mean, mabye he wanted wait till it got to the point he could use Earths Heroes to fight the White Martians and the League defeating Steppenwolf proved he could now get involved.

There are so many reasons why he could have been waiting, infiltrating Earths military to learn about Alien threats, monitoring for the White Martians.
TheVandalore
TheVandalore - 1/6/2023, 8:19 AM
@Arthorious - also maybe some White Martians are on Earth already looking for him, and he had to stay hidden because if a Green Martian was spotted being a hero, they would send for a White Martian invasion.

So MM had to stay hidden until he knew he could come forward.

@TheVandalore - these are good in theory, we truly don't know what Snyder was going to do going forward after his Justice League films, perhaps he would have white martians involved. Perhaps he needed the Justice League to coax him out of hiding due to his history. One can only speculate.

With that said, I do feel like Man of Tomorrow and Justice League New Frontier handled his secrecy better.

Although the Knightmare sequence at the end didn't add anything either, I like Martian Manhunter's inclusion even less. Really took away from that Martha and Lois scene.

Anyways, he could've looked greener.

@bkmeijer1 - yeah, i agree. The scene at the end is fluff, whatever but that Martha reveal was Grade A BS. And i generally love the movie.

Looks decent. The cgi was just bad.

Design-wise, he doesn't look bad, imo.
However, the cgi in his scenes was not good, which isn't surprising since it was a rush job/ limited budget due to the nature of it being the Snyder Cut.

The ending scene is ok as a teaser.
But I'm not a fan of the Martha and Lois scene, it just takes away the power and emotion from it when it's revealed it was Martian Manhunter posing as Martha.

And I greatly enjoyed the Snyder Cut overall too.
It's just the nature of Zack Snyder - there's some creative choices where I can appreciate / enjoy, then there's scenes like that where I think he doesn't really know wtf he's doing. He chooses the cool, wow factor and sacrifices effective storytelling.
