This shouldn't come as a surprise after recent revelations, but the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign looks to be a non-starter following comments from DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee...

Justice League was released in 2017 to overwhelmingly negative reviews. Joss Whedon's attempts to "fix" the movie resulted in an absolute disaster, and fans wasted no time in campaigning for the release of Zack Snyder's version of the blockbuster with the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag.

That movement did a lot of good and bad, though recent claims have suggested that the campaign behind Zack Snyder's Justice League ultimately being released on HBO Max wasn't quite as genuine as we thought. Whether the report was accurate or little more than a hit-piece is unclear, but it only served to drive home the fact that Warner Bros. is done with the SnyderVerse.

Now, another blow has been dealt to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse supporters thanks to comments from DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee at Comic-Con yesterday.

"You know, what's amazing is that we spent two years in lockdown - and here we are, back at a convention, celebrating the art form, feeling good," the legendary comic book artist started. "I work on the projects that are in development. And so, I think the Snyder Cut was Zack's vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story told, but there's no plans for additional work on that material."

"So, I was happy to help contribute to the pitch for the other stuff, and it was kind of fun to actually see that stuff get out there, 'cause I did that years ago," Lee continued. "I actually thought it had been erased, but they had kept it in storage."

He's likely referencing the storyboards that were put on display for the unmade Justice League sequels, but it now seems clearer than ever that they won't become a reality on streaming or as a comic book (as some fans had hoped). Again, we're not surprised, but there will be many fans who are disappointed by these comments.

The Flash is expected to close the door on the SnyderVerse next June, so this world is on borrowed time. On the plus side, we'll always have Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max!

Although it had it's moments, I'm glad WB decides to move on from the SnyderVerse.

Wonder if we get any sort of indication this weekend what they're gonna focus on instead though.

@bkmeijer1 - Same here. Definitely some cool stuff in what Snyder did, but like you said it's time to move on.

It would be nice to see something with a bit more hope. The dark tone works, but it all seemed way too doom and gloom centered.

@bkmeijer1 - its a tough situation, because you had some great casting in the Snyderverse, but a lot of bad execution. To move on, you almost have to recast, or it doesn't make sense. But that would mean letting go of Cavill, Mamoa and Gadot.

@thewanderer - I like those castings too, I kinda wanna see them all return for some sort of wrap-up. A JL vs. Black Adam movie could work I think.

@RedFury - the tone worked for those movies, but as Aquaman and Shazam have shown me, I prefer that tone more

@bkmeijer1 - what was your favourite part of the Snyder stuff? I think he nailed the batman factory fight. I don't think I've ever seen a better translation of how Batman fights a group of thugs in film. For all his failings, he brought the thunder on that scene. Maybe minus letting those two guys explode lol.

@RedFury - the warehouse fight was really good, but even then there were some issues imo due to the screenplay, like why didn't superman go there to save his mother instead of sending batman or why didn't the russian guy just kill martha at the first sign of trouble and ran? It's a great sequence to watch on youtube, but it loses part of its beauty when put in the context of the movie.

@Doomsday8888 - Always loved that montage but why did Bruce have a buzzcut for so long lol

@Doomsday8888 - That line is probably one of the most dumbest, nonsensical, pretentious line I've heard in a motion picture. Truly eye-roll worthy.

I got what I wanted (TSC) and that movie ended in a satisfying way. It left something for DC to build on without Snyder's involvement, so I say use it!! And give me JL 2 at some point.

I enjoyed Snyder’s movies. But I hate how divided the fanbase is and how they are at each other’s throats all the time. DC Comics was my first fictional love. I just want movies everyone can love and have fun with

@OldMan - That will never happen. There will always be fanboys on both sides that will hate on anything the other side does. It's like this in everything.

There will always be a certain amount of Marvel vs DC people, whether Snyder is making any of the films or not.

Saying "You know, what's amazing is that we spent two years in lockdown - and here we are, back at a convention, celebrating the art form, feeling good," is funny as hell because he was just saying anything he could to give himself enough time to figure out how to tell that crowd the truth without getting shot in the parking lot
