Even before the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League was officially announced, director Zack Snyder stated that Man of Steel's General Swanwick (Harry Lennix) was going to be revealed as Martian Manhunter in disguise. A recent report claims that this wasn't actually planned from the start, but whatever the case may be, J’onn J’onzz made his big screen debut in Zack Snyder's Justice League.
The shape-shifting alien first appeared as Martha Kent (Diane Lane) in a scene with Lois Lane (Amy Adams), before returning right at the end of the movie to let Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) know that he's willing to join the team.
While fans of the character were very happy to see the Last Martian, many feel his appearances seemed a little shoehorned in, and that his epilogue scene, in particular, is rather pointless since it teases a sequel that'll most likely never happen.
However, if Warner Bros. does decide to utilize MM again, Lennix seems more than happy to reprise the role.
What did you guys make of Martian Manhunter's inclusion in Zack Snyder's Justice League? Would you like to see Lennix return for a HBO Max series? Let us know in the comments, and check out some recently released stills of J’onn J’onzz below.
In Zack Snyder's Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes.
Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.
