Despite the critical and commercial success of Kick-Ass in 2010, and ongoing rumors that a sequel would be in cinemas by 2012, it's once again looking unlikely that we'll see an adaptation of the second volume of the comic book series any time soon. While creator Mark Millar remains confident over the chances of a sequel, screenwriter Jane Goldman and director Matthew Vaughn seem slightly less interested in returning to make a follow up. In the following interview with IGN Movies, both Millar and Goldman share their thoughts on the possibility of Kick-Ass 2.

Would you like to see Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn make Kick-Ass 2 or focus on a sequel to X-Men: First Class? How would you feel about someone else helming the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr comic book? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

That's a shame... Jane Goldman seems to be seriously shutting it down.

Good. The last thing we need is another Kick-Ass film. It was moderately amusing the first two or three times I watched the first movie, but after that, I couldn't stand it. Kids running around, beating people up, and swearing excessively can only remain "Hilarious" for so long...

Also, seeing as Kick-Ass was supposed to parody CBM's and comic books in general, Vaughn coming back to the franchise after making an X-Men movie would be....somewhat hypocritical.

i'm surprised they would even want to make a sequel.

kick ass

budget $28,000,000

gross $96,188,903

i suppose it made its money back with profit, but not exactly a box office smash.

good. I'd rather see a first class sequel.

@marvel72 Well it doesn't need to be a "box office smash" to guarantee a sequel. It also grossed a huge amount of money in DVD/On Demand sales.

@Slaine I think Chloe is already too old to reprise the role of Hit-Girl, and Aaron Johnson only has a year or so before he would outgrow the role of Kick-Ass entirely.

@Slaine It's possible. But after I saw Let Me In, I was convinced that the she wouldn't reprise the role.

I don't believe he would have very much freedom with a sequel to Kick-Ass. The studio would be worried about trying to make a carbon copy of the first, a scenario similar to The Hangover: Part II.

I'm just glad that the first film was made independently. If it was made by a studio, no doubt a 2nd would probably already be in production with a different director attached. And it would more than likely be terrible.

But I agree if they are going to make one it should be sooner or later. Can't see anyone else in the role of Hit Girl. Chloe already seems to old to reprise her role.

I'd rather see them work on the X-Men: First Class sequel than a Kick-Ass sequel.

Let's not forget how incapable Millar is of sticking to a Deadline.
It'll take him two more years just to finish it.

Out of all the bad movies in hollywood that are becoming sequels, why can't we get a sequel to a great movie.
