Mark Strong On Possibly Coming Back To The KICK-ASS Franchise And GREEN LANTERN'S Failure

He was a great Sinestro. Such a shame!

mark strong aka sinestro was the only good thing to come out of that terrible green lantern movie.

i say reboot but keep mark strong.

The relationship felt forced and anytime Reynolds and Lively were on screen, the writing killed any chemistry. The villains were pretty bad too. It's a fun movie to watch when bored and you can skip a lot of scenes.

I do find it funny when people say that Martin Campbell is a bad director considering he's the same person who directed casino royale and goldeneye. When you've got 2 terrible writers like Guggenheim and berlanti amoungst 2 other writers, no wonder the movie sucked.

I liked him as Matai Shang in JOHN CARTER.

he was an awesome sinestro because sinestro was well-written, and he was directed to play him as grim, stern and severe. reynolds and lively weren't as good because they were poorly written and directed to play their parts as a wuss and a princess, respectively. but these people are not bad actors.

you guys don't seem to get it. i was a professional actor way back when... i'm not famous because i'm short and i'm not handsome and i'm no daniel day-lewis in the talent department, but i was pretty good. here's a clue: acting is doing what you're told. yes, you need the talent to pull it off, and you need to create a believable presence and so on, but you don't INVENT the personality you're playing, you PLAY the personality they WRITE FOR YOU. reynolds was great in buried and safe house, lively was fine in savages and the town. better writing, better direction, better movies, better performances.

the same natalie portman and hayden christensen that murdered star wars were great in black swan and shattered glass. the same peter saarsgard that was the worst thing in GL was good in that too, and great in an education. angela bassett and tim robbins are pretty effing good actors, are they not? well they sure stunk up the screen in GL.

grow up people, and stop placing the blame on the workers instead of the bosses! the movie was MADE badly, but the actors did all they could with the shit they were handed.

He's the only reason of why I want Green Lantern to be semi-rebooted, or something like that. Such a perfection shall not be wasted in one poor attempt.

Am I the only getting pissed about these adds that play no matter what and no matter how many times I shut off the volume?!?!

Green Lantern was a bad film nonetheless. However, it had some good things.

the acting was pretty good in GL. of course not oscar worthy or anything but thats expected. his portrayal of an average witty guy that overcame fear with courage at the same time having the responsibility of protecting the earth wasnt bad one bit. the story though was just horrible. someone wrote a bad movie and unfortunately for ryan reynolds hes blamed for the entire thing

I agree with what @MARVELPSYCHO79 said. This movie has SOOOOOO much potential! Its set in freakin space!!! It would've been the first CBM to successfully do so! (not counting Star Wars since they were films first)

This could've completely established DC as a sci-fi, god-like character driven company. But then they COMPLETELY drop the ball hiring TV writers to man such an important task! TELEVISION WRITERS!!!! That was just set up for failure... then as soon as they casted RR I knew this film wouldn't be the film we all wanted.

Now, back to topic. Mark Strong did not do much in the film, but in every scene he was in HE OWNED IT!! He kept the film somewhat watchable while we were trapped in the theater.

I want this film to be rebooted but keep Strong as Sinestro. He was just too good to not bring back.

Sinestro should NOT be the villain in the reboot since they need to make us fall in love with him, create the strong master/apprentice relationship between him and Hal that they failed to do in the film.

Then in the second or third film or end of second make Sinestro the villain. Don't rush things. This film was obviously rushed and caused its downfall in the end at DC's expense.

I blame GL's failure on the writers and the powers that be at WB. They need a better overseer ala Feige with Marvel

Anyway I know I'm in the minority but I enjoyed GL. Yes it should've been 10 times better, more focused on Parallax. Left just a hint for Hector Hammonds and Sinestro for the sequels. Less focus on toy merchandising too and the film could've been much better.

Still I think the franchise is salvageable

Get rid of Ryan Reynolds.
Never hire Martin Campbell for anything, ever.
Hire better writers whose primary experience isn't in comics.

Ryan Reynolds was not a good casting choice for Green Lantern unfortunately. For Flash maybe but for Green Lantern no.

The combination of the writing and him as Green Lantern really sealed the fate for this movie. I'm just glad that I got to see it for free because if not I would've have been real upset about wasting my money.

For me I think a semi-reboot is possible with Green Latern being recasted and Mark Strong still being Sinestro.

Personally, I loved Ryan Reanolds in GL. I thought he was great. The writing suffered a little bit but look at his other work, the dude can act if give the right director.

Sinestro was perfect. Again, the writing is what failed it. When he suggests to use a yellow ring for the first time was the momen where the movie began to go downhill. Till then it was great.

And no, Kilowag was not good IMO. I love MCD, but his portrayal and scenes were just...meh. Could've been a lot better

How can you clowns say MCD was a bad Kilowog? He did his voice for Christ sakes! You idiots wouldn't know good if it jumped up and bit you on the @SS!!!

He was such an awesome Sinestro but this movie has to get rebooted.
