Pedro Pascal has quickly become one of Hollywood's most highly sought-after actors, and while he mostly just lends his voice to The Mandalorian, the critically acclaimed Star Wars TV series is definitely a big part of the reason why. Of course, he's also impressed in Wonder Woman 1984 as the unhinged Maxwell Lord and last year's The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
Doing the rounds to promote his role in HBO's The Last of Us (you can read our review by clicking here), Wired asked Pascal if a Marvel role, cape, CGI and all, is something he wants as an actor.
"I do want that," he said confirming, his interest in the MCU. "I want to be in movies."
Asked what it means to him to be a hero in today's world, Pascal responded: "There’s so many ways to misunderstand people and to forget that, at the end of the day, your neighbor is very likely to give you the shirt off their own back. The interchanges that you have with strangers are, more often than not, human."
"But then you can go and look sh*t up and be terrified by how divided we all apparently are," he continued. "To comfort myself, I just remember that everybody I come in contact with is sort of, in their own way, heroically kind."
When the site put it to Pascal that he's "that new kind of hero," the always-humble The Mandalorian star said, "Oh my gosh. It’s funny when the phrasing 'the face of' comes up, because Mando is faceless. I haven’t thought about it in that way."
"I’m always struggling to imagine myself as being a part of something that I have been witness to growing up and watching. There’s a disconnect for me - I don’t know how to place myself in that world. Like, I just go a little blank."
We're sure a Marvel role is beckoning for Pascal, and we'd like to think it would be a far more significant one than DC's Maxwell Lord. While that gave him the chance to have fun as a villain, it was in a sequel that many deemed a disappointment after 2017's Wonder Woman earned rave reviews.
As for who he could play, with the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises being rebooted, we're sure he'll be spoiled for choice a couple of years from now.
Which character do you think Pascal would be a good fit for in the MCU?
