COMICS: Cyborg Superman Set To Make His Debut In DC's "The New 52"?

One of Superman's most iconic villains will seemingly be making a return to the DC Universe at some point this year as the publisher has teased a redesigned version of Cyborg Superman in a sketch by artist Kenneth Rocafort. Check it out!

In the latest edition of "What's New in the New 52", Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras has seemingly revealed that Cyborg Superman will soon be making his debut in the recently relaunched DC Universe. The original version of the character was created by Dan Jurgens and introduced following the events of "The Death of Superman". Hank Henshaw claimed to be the real Superman rebuilt with technology, but later showed his villainous ways when he destroyed Coast City and joined the Sinestro Corps. Oddly, a still human version of Henshaw recently appeared in Team 7!

"Some of you might remember the last time a Cyborg Superman showed up. Would we dare revisit such a classic storyline? Hmmm. Well, never say never, right? As I've been telling you, all bets are off. Everything's on the table. Sorry to make your head explode on a Friday, but enjoy Kenneth Rocafort's lovely sketch in the meantime. We'll be in the conference room discussing...oh, never mind."

Looks good. Now introduce the new 52 version of Superboy, complete with Fonzerelli jacket and douche bag haircut.

@ Marauder Thanks!

I had no idea, this is cool. Maybe there could be a Cyborg / Steel team up. The two working together could be interesting to see.

PROS:

Kenneth Rocafot's art is BEAUTIFUL. This image is SEXY.

CONS:

Scott Lobdell will butcher it just like he's ruined [frick]ing Superboy. He'll probably add some convoluted throwback to the [frick]ing Silver Age!

Why is his suit like that,I get it,in Reign of the Supermen he obviously had the suit ripped but what's the point of the suit here?Why is it ripped?Is not even a suit,it appears to be all metal.
This is dumb. If you're not doing Reign of the Supermen again,I don't see why he should be wearing that "suit".

@JoSh where is it ripped?

it doesn't look ripped. it looks like the arm transformers-es from regular-arm-only-metal into big wacky megatron-drawn-by-todd-mcfarlane arm and the blue panels shift out of position. but i don't think it's a suit.

Another villain that can't stay dead. I guess Hal Jordan killing him in 'Final Night' doesn't matter here, either.

@Fearless
Relax pal..Supes has more powerful baddies to fight than just robotic ones.
Darkseid & Mongul are two heavy hitters that can easily deliver the pain on Superman.
There are more as well but those two are big & bad & not a dumb creature like Doomsday.

Looks cool and pretty scary. I would like them to do a General Zod story soon.

I like the old Cyborg Superman better. He looked like a T-800 model Terminator.

And please don't tell me they're planning to do "The Death and Return of Superman" story arc in the New 52...

Hank Henshaw in the Sinestro Wars, with the Manhunters and their quest for a real dead was great. But please, not a new origin here, just use the old continuity.

OK... weird. Somewhat. Superman alluded to having died and then come back in Swamp Thing #1.. which was written before editorial made the decision to squish every blessed thing into five years the following fall with the Zero issues (and that this was going to be a complete and total reboot from the ground up on EVERYONE).

And yet, having not read Team 7 yet, apparently Henshaw appeared in un-cyborg form. Either way, this is likely leading into Villains month, with Cyborg Superman, the new Owlman introduced in Batman, the new Reverse Flash, Prince Orm, Volthoom in Power Ring's slot, and The First Born sliding into Superwoman's spot (even though he's technically a guy) as a new (non extra-dimensional) Crime Syndicate for the Justice League analogue.

That's it. I have no idea what is going on in DC anymore. Every time I open up Actions Comics, I find my self saying, "Wait. Where are we in the continuity again?"
