"I would do any superhero movie that I was asked to do... But I wouldn’t have been interested in 'Iron Man.' I have a lot of respect for [Jon Favreau], because to me, it was a B-character. But look what he did."
CBM: I think I detect a bit of jealousy in this backhanded "compliment."
More from MTV's Splash Page...
The ever-outspoken Ratner — who has achieved a “love him or hate him” status among fans — lamented to MTV that he nearly landed a franchise character (namely Superman) but eventually passed on the chance to direct Big Blue’s return to cinemas. He now worries that the ship has sailed on notable characters that have mainstream box office appeal.
CBM: Awww. poor baby.
"I was so upset when I left 'Superman,'" said Ratner. "Singer has his 'X-Men,' Nolan has 'Batman' — there’s nothing left. 'Hulk' has been exploited already. There’s nothing left for me... I mean, I’m not going to go and do the Silver Surfer or something," shrugged Ratner.
CBM: Hell no. Silver Surfer is SUCH a "B" character. The great Ratner couldn't possibly lower himself to direct a crappy property like that. Instead, he's going to do a horrible revamp of Conan, and he’s directing an adaptation of Rob Liefeld’s “Youngblood” (A more reputable brand than Silver Surfer?).
If Hollywood EVER listens to the fans, listen to this. DO NOT LET RATNER GET HIS HANDS ON ANOTHER COMIC BOOK MOVIE!
