To us, "fanboy" is a term that is used to attack someone or degrade a fellow comic book fan so i wrote this article to set some things straight.

If you're on a comic book website posting comments and staying up to date on upcoming CBM news and love comic book characters and stories........you're a fanboy. Accept it. I am.

Yeah, I'm a fanboy, too. but the reason why people don't like being called that is because of the stereotypes that come with it which they don't want to be associated with.

I am a fanboy as well. And it just amaze me how alot of people on this site would deem us someone who doesn't accept any changes made to our favorite comic book series.
I mean aren't we all fans? Why couldn't we express our own opinions on things that we don't like in a movie?

I think it's the "boy" part.
It's used all the time here and basically always in an insulting manner which is hilarious really considering the topics of argument lol

They usually sound like "It's funny how you fanboys..." and then they continue to talk about how one comic character is so much more awesome than another.

There is a difference between fans and fanboys.

Just because we come on this site does not make us fanboys.

A possible definition:

A fanboy is someone who demonstrates obsessive and irrational devotion to the source material of his or her attention, leading to an inability to make rational judgments of said material and anything related to it.

Probably not the best that someone could come up with given time but I think it gets the idea across. It explains behaviour like:

- They changed the costume; this sucks!
- Storm's not wearing her lightning bolt earrings in the movie; this sucks!
- Captain America is not being played by the actor that I wanted; this movie will be crap!
- No helmet again!?! Aaarrgghh!
etc., etc., etc.

@coldblood- i know what your saying but in the end we are all fanboys. from the outside perspective of someone who could give a rats a$$ about super heroes we are ALL fanboys. including you and me. thats the point im trying to make. i could care less if someone called me a fanboy cause im proud of it.

A bit off-topic - but why do people say "I COULD care less"? Surely they mean "I COULDN'T care less".. Because if you "COULD care LESS", it means you must actually care a little to be able to care LESS!!! If you "Couldn't care less", it means its just not possible for you to care any less, i.e; You dont care. I think its a US/UK thing...Think about it - you'll see what I mean...
Oh - and I dont mind if I get labelled a fanboy, in fact I couldn't care less...

@Caedus137: I'm the same way, I constantly try to correct people from saying I could care less. Most people just dismiss it because they don't want to change a habit. Oh and I live in the US. I don't think it's a US/UK thing.

@luckylu: Good English is for easier communication between people - even on the internet - not just for the classroom.

How you write is how you come across - if you write/type like a retard, then that's the impression you give to people (not saying YOU write like a retard - just saying in general). IF they even bother reading what you've written at all - I know I won't bother reading something when the effort to 'translate' something from gobbledegook back into English isn't worth it - and if the person writing can't even be bothered to write legibly, why should I bother reading it?

Not having a go at you specifically and I'm not talking about the occasional 'short-cut' or minor laziness, but that attitude of "it's the internet not the classroom" is stupid because I'm betting more people 'write' on the internet - and attempt to communicate with other people - than they ever do in a classroom, therefore making English far MORE important in the real world than it is in class.

IMHO

If it writes like an idiot... ;)

On topic...

I think we should take the word "fanboys" back - just like 'geek' is now almost synonymous with 'cool', let's take 'fanboy' as a compliment. Embrace the fanboy in yourself! :D

@keithm- i 100% agree with you on taking the word fanboy back. like i said above im kinda proud of it cause its who i am and i cant deny it so why bother taking offense to it you know?

in articles i will do my best to make sure spelling, grammar, and punctuation are all correct but i dont find it necessary when posting comments. In this specific article it was just a very quick write up. dosnt meen il tipe lyke dis tho.
