SlashFilm.com got an exclusive look at the five new photos from Scott Stewart’s Priest. The trailer for the upcoming comic book adaptation is expected to debut at this year's Comic Con.

Plot Synopsis:

Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.

Not sure about this one...I know nothing about the source material and it doesnt exactly have the most exciting cast or creative team behind it so I doubt that this'll be a movie I'll check out at the cinema!

This would have been so much better if they had stuck closer to the source material.

The main character, Ivan Isaacs, was an excommunicated priest who sold half his sould to the demon Belial in exchange for the power to destroy the fallen blood angel Tomozarela.

HOW COULD THEY CHANGE THAT?

@SiegFirebrand - That's Hollywood for you, Grab someone's ideas and life's work and chop it up , mix around and put in their typical hollywood formula and spit it out for us to eat it all up. A shame isn't it?

To Sieg. I think in some ways it's better to go in a totally different direction like I, Robot. In doing so you avoid unfavourable comparisons to the source, with people saying "it's not enough like it in THIS respect" etc.

That said, if you're doing that, why not make an original title? *Kanye shrug*

Paul Bettany is awesome as the Priest, but it would have been great to see him in the more faithful adaptation.

I'm not seeing this movie, simply on the basis that it has a Twilight actor in it....dumb reason? Maybe.
