Mike Pecci has updated fans about the status of the film on his personal website stating that Marvel has sent them a cease-and-desist letter which say the following.

“Marvel reserves the right to take whatever remedies are available to it at law and in equity, and shall do whatever best protects its interests.”

Marvel also explains why they are ordering the cease-and-desist saying that it is confusing to consumers.

“Your actions confuse consumers into believing that they are viewing an authentic Marvel production or one sponsored or licensed by Marvel, when they are not.”

Though Mike Pecci goes on to say that he doesn't have a beef with Marvel nfor what they are doing instead he is encouraging fans to tell Marvel that they want to see the film.

"So how can you see it? Write to Marvel. Tell them that you want to see this film. Tell them you want to see our Punisher on the small screen. Twitter @Marvel or on their website." says Mike Pecci

Similar thing happened to me. I wanted to do a Spider-Man fan-film, and they sent me an email asking me not to release it. My answer: Make a Batman one instead. :P

Yet when #Dirty Laundry came out, a Punisher fan film, they were completely fine with it. Yep, [frick] Marvel on this, that's not cool at all. I don't care if you plan to have a cameo or a film in the future but you're using the fact that you now own the character again to stop anybody from making a FAN film. You know, the ones that aren't made for profit but out of love and respect for the character.

And yeah, DC/WB lets anyone make a fan film. It seems like we get a new film/short/trailer every other week. And surprise assholes they aren't made for profit! Make whatever snide deuce bag comment you want but we all know it's a fact.

I wonder if Thomas Jane got a letter from Marvel when he made his Dirty Laundry short film portraying The Punisher?

Unless Marvel has plans for the character, there is absolutely no reason at all why they would or should do this. Have some respect Marvel! Fans KNOW that this isn't real, but if you feel threatened by a measly little fan-film, you're a baby. Grow up and respect your fans! And learn to appreciate that there are fans of your characters who care enough to devote their own time and money into paying homage to them. Yeash!

I'd love to see Punisher with his badass gear like in the classic costume instead of a leather jacket and shirt. He should be in a Cap sequel where Cap has almost become a full-fledge agent who just does what they tell him to and the Punisher is the rebel who's doing what's necessary. Kind of like Dark Knight Returns.

Marvel should realize fan films just raise awareness of their characters.
The makers of this film should label it a parody & get away with whatever they want like the porn industry does.

Punisher is a great, complex character that needs an HBO series.
